The Philadelphia Phillies win their final home game of the regular season as they beat the Cubs 9-6. With their Win and the Brewers loss to the Pirates, the Phillies clinch a 1st round bye and at least the 2nd seed in the National League. The Phillies drilled three solo homers in the win. Trea Turner struck first in the 1st inning with his 20th homer of the season. Nick Castellanos followed in the 3rd with his 23rd home run. Then Kody Clemens drilled his 5th home run in the 4th. The Phillies’ biggest hit of the night though, stayed in the yard. Brandon Marsh stepped to the plate in the 5th inning with the bases loaded and cleared them off with a 3-run double to the right-center field gap. That made the score 8-4 Cristopher Sanchez tossed 4.2 innings in his final home start of the regular season allowing 4 runs, 3 earned on 5 hits and one walk. He needed 94 pitched over his brief outing. Sanchez was the victim of a rough defensive play by the usual sure handed Bryson Stott. The Phillies’ gold glove candidate second-baseman booted a double play ball in the 3rd.
