Giles, a geneticist at the University of Cambridge, uses a 21ft knitted scarf to give Tim a guided tour of his gut. Tim is an American chef who runs a busy Japanese restaurant in London and he is hoping to transform his energy levels, wellbeing and mood by focusing on his intestines. They learn about the importance of the gut microbiome, the vast ecosystem of bacteria, yeasts, fungi and viruses in our digestive pipes, which weighs more than the brain.

At Kings College London, Tim meets Professor Tim Spector (author of The Diet Myth) who analyses his microbiome through a stool sample. What will Professor Spector find in Tim’s gut?

Part 2

Good and informative! Would be great if there were another part with further research, more depth and more about changing habits.

fascinating exploration of what the gut is & does

Ties in nicely with Gut by Giulia Enders, and also Atomic Habits by James Clear. Makes for interesting listening, and you learn lots of new things about your health and how to take care of it that are especially relevant in this time of Covid19

I got to learn new things as well as revise my knowledge in a funny and engaging way. Loved the hosts and the fact that they experiment and experience things they are talking about.

Perfect intro to this subject

I've heard bitesize info on this subject before and some hints and tips from friends who know a lot more about it than I do. I lived in Korea for a few years so I was introduced to fermented foods as daily part of most meals such as kimchi but knew very little about the science. It's a great introductory series for a complete novice like me. I'm definitely interested in learning more about it after listening.

Approachable

As its name indicates, it is a good introduction for us normal folk who know little about the inner working of our guts. There is enough information to give an idea of why gut health might be important, as well as some simple, actionable steps you can take to start diversifying yours. Hint: Eat more vegetables and fermented foods.

As complicated as it needs to be for the average human.

I liked both presenters also. I remember rooting for Tim on Masterchef years a go and have seen a few of Giles' talks. Both are very down to earth and make the subject digestible (ha).

A lot to think about and informative. Thank you

Entertaining and informative. Will now look into the world of fermentation to add to my current changes. Im 90% vegan but not giving up fish.
