Everybody wants to have better relationships, whether it is with their friends, the person they are dating, their spouse, or God Himself. Today, Dr. John Cuddeback joins Ben Eriksen to discuss these types of friendships, as well as virtue, happiness, and even dating. Their conversation draws on the wisdom of Aristotle as well as a relatively unknown Saint Aelred.

Dr. Cuddeback’s practical wisdom is extremely helpful for all ages, but most especially the young as they develop new friendships and consider dating and the vocation to marriage.

  • Cardinal Ouellet: Synodality Is Not What You Think It Is
    Jul 7 2025

Cardinal Ouellet explains what “synodality” is and what the risks and opportunities are for a synodal Church.

Among Catholics, there has been a lot of talk about “synodality” and a “synodal Church” over the past few years. Pope Francis even called a synod on synodality. But what is synodality, and why is it important to the Church? Is it even relevant for Catholics in the pews? Does it undermine the Church’s mission or past teachings?

Today, Cardinal Ouellet joins Mark Brumley to explain what synodality is, why it is important, and what are its inherent risks and opportunities. We are grateful for the opportunity to speak with his Eminence because he was involved in the most recent synod on synodality as well as the four previous synods. He also worked with Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis and served as the Prefect of the Dicastery of Bishops for ten years. Therefore, today’s episode and his recently released book “Word, Sacrament, Charism: The Risks and Opportunities of a Synodal Church” provide valuable insight into synodality and into the mind of the Church as she chooses to promote greater synodality.
