    komuravelli mallanna is a famous god in northern telangana. The main devotees for mallanna god is from golla and kapu caste. Mallanna is the incarnation of Lord Shiva. The god appears in terrified form with big mustache. Mallanna often refered as beerappa, but both are different.

    God Mallanna (Malia Reddy) who was fabled to have originally been a Kapu by caste. It is believed that Mallanna was born out of Mali Chemata (the next sweat) of Lord Siva, tholichemata(first sweat) turned as Beerappa. Malia Reddy was the son of Neelamma and Adi Reddy, the ruler of Kolhapur.

    Legend has it that the goddess appeared in the dream of a few devotees and made known her wish to install her idol without a roof. In deference to her wish, the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Kanakamahalakshmi temple at Burujupeta in One Town area does not have a roof and devotees perform puja and abhishekam themselves.
