  • Happy Times and Places 84.1 - Planet of the Ood
    Sep 26 2024

Remember - Toby Hadoke's Time Travels is currently weekly, not twice a week as is usual: normal service will be resumed in October.

Academic and stand-up comedian Oliver Double chooses perhaps the least celebrated slice of Doctor/Donna Who, from a time when the show was riding high in the ratings, in the public eye... everywhere. But what five things will he choose as his favourite - and will your host give them a chilly reception?

  • Too Much Information 5.3 - The Screaming Jungle
    Sep 20 2024

A gentle reminder that this month, Toby Hadoke's Time Travels will be weekly as opposed to fortnightly whilst batteries are recharged and general maintenance is carried out.

The next key of Marinus is hiding in a jar in an old man's laboratory, but it's a jungle out there... and jungle that is trying to get in. Before the episode can be transmitted though, there is a row about exactly who came up with it. And what's this, an episode in which the companions play a greater role than the Doctor, who is conspicuous by his absence? Wouldn't happen these days! Oh, and we get up close and personal - and totally naked - with one of the story's main guest stars, who made TV histroy in full colour and fully undressed!

  • Happy Times and Places 83.7 - The Ambassadors of Death 7
    Sep 12 2024

For August and September Toby Hadoke's Time Travels will be released once a week. The twice weekly releases will resume in October. Thanks for your patience. Here we go chums. What a rewarding experience this has been. But can The Ambassdors of Death contnue to surprise, and to break the mould, and have host Toby pull off a rare victory? Or will the ending be a damp squib? Well, for one last time Toby and special guest Mark Wright delve into this most undersung of Who classics - and loving it to (ker-pow) DEATH is, of course, their moral duty.

Warm, insightful, fun

This is a wonderful podcast, and one of my go to comforts. Toby is all at once a polymath in the Whoniverse but also a very down to earth and non-condecending voice in the community. It's a podcast full of heart, rock hard knowledge and charming befuddlemant. In an increasingly dull and hermoginised world its very much a happy time and place.

Positively informative

It’s so refreshing to hear a Doctor Who podcast which accentuates the positive rather than descending into moaning.
Not only that, but Toby is such a font of knowledge, telling you everything you could ever possibly want to know and maybe a few things you never knew you wanted to know. Even when you goes off topic, there’s a charm to him that makes you enjoy the tangents all the more.
Perfect listening to make you fall in love with the programme all over again.

Forensic and Funny

I thought I knew a lot about classic Doctor Who but Toby Hadoke is in another league. His story reviews are excellent but it's the stand alone podcasts looking at one random aspect or theme in the show which at their best are sublime, especially his reminiscences of his childhood fandom. Maybe not a podcast for the casual viewer, but if think you know all about the whoniverse, think again, and enjoy. Happy times and places indeed.
