  • Authorised 2025 Series 6 Episode 11 Jenny Pattrick & A. M. Jaxon
    Jun 16 2025

Jenny Pattrick came to writing novels after a very successful life in teaching and in the jewellery industry where she is something of a revered figure. The New Zealand born and raised author chats about her 11th novel, Sea Change. Jenny takes us to a coastal community reeling from a tsunami and the aftermath brings out the best and worst in those affected.

My second guest is author A.M.Jaxon, talking about the first part of The Love Connection Series. Saoirse's Story takes you from Donegal in Ireland to Brisbane as the main character seeks a new life, but it is anything but plain sailing.

Two very different writers, two very different books, but equally engaging and entertaining.

  • Authorised 2025 Series 6 Episode 10 Muriel Cooper & Joanna Jenkins
    Jun 2 2025

It's another double-barrelled episode of Authorised, with two authors who come to our bookshelves via very different paths.

Muriel Cooper was the queen of talkback radio for many years and a trailblazer in broadcasting for the women who have followed her. These days she is a psychologist and author and her latest book is the most refreshing self help guide you will find anywhere. The title says it all - Up Shit Creek in a Barbed Wire Canoe and How to Cope with it (Norstrilia Press). As flippant as that sounds, Muriel has some very useful hints, presented in her own unique style.

Joanna Jenkins became a fulltime writer after a long and distinguished law career. The law's loss is our gain, as Joanna's second novel shows her to be a very clever, unpredictable and adventurous author with well-honed storytelling skills. The Bluff (Allen & Unwin) is a compelling story, as is how it came to be.

  • Authorised 2025 Series 6 Episode 9 Peter Norris The Bank Robber's Boy
    May 18 2025

Peter Norris has led an extraordinary life by any measure. His childhood was unlike anyone else's and like us all, he made some good and bad choices, but the options he had to choose from were very different to most kids. Peter's father was a career criminal and it looked like Peter was following in his footsteps until he made a difficult choice.

Peter's story is harrowing, confronting, sad, joyous and totally compelling. The Bank Robber's Boy (Big Sky Publishing) does have a happy ending and Peter shares the whole experience in this candid chat with Kevin.
