  • Summary

  • Audible takes you on a journey through the Earth, to experience our planet in a way you’ve never encountered before.

A Grown-Up Guide to Planet Earth is a tour of our world from the inside, out. Geologist Professor Chris Jackson plunges into the molten world beneath our feet, to reveal what drives the explosive power of volcanoes and destructive energy of earthquakes.

Starting at the super-heated core, Chris will guides you through the layers of the Earth reaching up to the edge of space. And you’ll discover how all these layers combine to make Planet Earth the perfect, and (as far as we know) the only, place in the Universe that’s home to complex life.

    Sep 29 2021

Earthquakes rock the Earth’s crust, the thin layer of rock on which all of human existence has played out. Yet the crust is just one per cent of the mass of the Earth. It’s reliable, solid, still...at least, most of the time.

a bit blinkered.

there is no doubt we are stripping the planet of resources that have taken millions of years to produce, but the planets climate has had hugh swings before you could blame humans. tell the people the truth, resources are running out!

Loved It!

I enjoyed this even more than the dinosaur edition in this series (which I enjoyed very much)!
Such an informative and interesting listen.

The people interviewed clearly have a passion for what they do, which makes it even more of a riveting listen.

Fall in love with geology

Thank you so much for this series. It’s intelligent, engaging and more up-to-date than my A-level geography from many years ago. Makes me want to delve deeper. Would love to see more of these series covering say, Climatology, oceanography, hydrology, geomorphology etc.

Great series about our shared home

Great narration, great content. This is a grand arc through the birth of the solar system and the coalition of dust & gas that formed the Earth, the transformative power of weather & geological processes, and our place in this fragile niche that is the only place we know that life exists.

The expert consultants are good communicators and it's a good blend between not over-explaining high-school science to recent scientific advances that's more challenging for non-specialists.

Great production quality, highly recommended.
