医者を目指す若者が増えている。医学部の延べ志願者数は、2007年度の12.8万人から14年度は16.9万人まで増加。中でも近年目立つのが、一般家庭の子どもの受験だ。
ある医学部受験専門予備校では、生徒の親の職業は、半分が医師、2割が歯科医師、そして3割が経営者や一般のサラリーマン。「8割が医師の子どもだった10年前とは様変わりした」という。私大医学部は医師の家庭だけが受ける特別なもの、という時代ではなくなっている。
何が若者を引き付けるのか。医学部受験の現状、大学病院の実態を探った。
