'A selfless, hopeful book by a writer of vast heart and quiet brilliance, which over its course creates a cartography of the 'paths to recovery' that are open to us all' (Robert Macfarlane)

'Horatio is as wise as he is compassionate' (Chris van Tulleken)

'There’s no other book quite like it as it takes patients, their relatives, and carers through the treacherous terrain that is the mental health landscape today, giving advice, signposting how to safely traverse the territory and giving hope at the same time' (Femi Oyebode)

my wife's journey

having had my wife detained at a psychiatric center for second time via NHS this read touches on every aspect of the few positives and many negatives. my wife had been misdiagnosed with major depression for so many years in a vicious spiral of mental torment.
however for as long as I can recall I'd insisted my wife was suffering from bipolar 2 and thankfully her new very young psychiatrist finally agreed with my opinion withdrew her from anti depressants which aggravates bipolar introduced mood stabiliser lithium which I'd already suggested along side her temporary anti psychotic. and guess what working a treat no massive up and downs getting on with her life. so many people get put on anti depressants by GP as they have little knowledge and a cheap fix. we'll done Horatio having been a victim of the system coping without medication and changing your life. it can be done with the right care and love and support
instead of using mood flattening zombie anti depressants
