About this listen

She found The One. But when everyone wants him, can she keep him?

When there’s a ring on her doorbell, there’s only one person Edie Thompson wants it to be. The person who’s still in her heart. The person who just might be The One.

She and Elliot Owen called it quits once before – but aren’t they too good together not to try? And here he is – offering her everything she dreamed of.

But dating Elliot, an actor, is anything but plain sailing. Being an ocean apart and followed by the press is one thing, but when Edie’s friends and Elliot’s family are drawn in, things get messy. Then her boss hires a friendly face in the form of Declan Dunne, who’s there for her when times are tough, and Edie starts to wonder … are she and Elliot a fairytale come true – or a cautionary fable about getting what you wish for?

Didn't realise this was a sequel. I was hooked and was rooting for the couple initially, Mhairi has a style of writing that really draws you in. To summarise though: arguments, not a lot of joy, the ending??! Not for me sorry, Edie and Elliot should've been left in book 1

So they have a whole load of issues, but they don’t really get resolved. It’s basically them just accidentally saying/doing the wrong thing through the whole book and then making up. It was quite stressful and I was quite confused when I saw I only had 18 minutes left of it, but their relationship was in free fall! I love her books normally, but this one was a bit anticlimactic.

Stressful!

I will always pick up a Mhairi Mcfarlane book and I didn’t realise until I started reading that we would be following up with Edie and Elliot from Who’s That Girl. I really enjoyed the original book, (especially as my uni city was Nottingham) and the tone of the book was really consistent with the first, the plot was well paced, and the characters didn’t feel like vast departures, but in a way that it didn’t really feel like their key contention was all that resolvable. I found the ending a little rushed and by the epilogue I still had a few unanswered questions. Overall an enjoyable read, but not my absolute favourite of her work.

So good - yet again M M took my grim mood into smiles and warmth

A topic I think every girl has daydreamed of - what would it be like to be the girl next door dating the film star……. ??
Characters that it’s so easy to invest in classic real world energy In each page Do many authors have you laughing out loud and nodding with such identification?

Another classic from an iconic author of this genre

Every single thing I wanted/needed it to be. Smart, funny & romantic. Brilliant to revisit some fantastic characters from Who’s That Girl? and also to be introduced to some wonderful new ones too. Love, love, loved it! 5 fantastic stars!

Everything I wanted in the sequel!

Fab follow up to who’s that girl, I couldn’t listen to it quick enough. Reading a Mhairi book is much like putting on your fave pair of slippers.

Another belter from Mhairi

I LOVED THIS. I’ve waited a decade to find out what happened after someone knocked on Edie’s door and I was not disappointed. This was incredibly well written and full of twists and misdirection. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, and I finally have closure. 5* for the wonderful Mhiari

The perfect romantic
