Summary

When a mysterious text message summons May Wexler to a biker bar in downtown New Orleans, she knows something is very wrong. Her sister has sent out an SOS, but when May gets there, she's nowhere to be found and May is the one in trouble - she's wearing pink espadrilles, she's got a Chihuahua in her purse, and she's in the middle of a shootout.

After tall, muscular Ozzie comes to her rescue, May has no choice but to follow him to safety. At the headquarters of his private security firm, the Bourbon Street Boys, she finds a refuge for the night - and the offer of a job. But it's not long before a gun-toting stalker isn't the only complication in May's life: the more time she spends with Ozzie, the less she can deny that they've got some serious chemistry. A wrong number got her into this mess...Will it also get her the right guy?

It has charm

It is a light and easy read, not much depth is given to the story or characters but it has a lot of charm. The audio book is well matched but, as usual, I missed a male voice being used for the male lead.

light and funny

Light hearted, loved the dog relationship it made the book for me.
Otherwise it was a bit twee for me.
I can understand her beating Dev with an unexpected tazer but she was no martial arts student all a bit too unbelievable for me.
I will listen to the other books though as I liked the characters.

right

Loved the narration of Emily Foster

Photographer May finds herself in a sticky situation. Believing she has received a text from her sisters new phone. Soon she finds herself being shot at and being rescued by Ozzie. Who was under cover, with the worst beard ever.
With the bad man chasing May she need a place to stay, and finds herself being offered a job with the security team because they could use her photography skills.
The attraction between Ozzie and May, grows and is also full of humour.
Loved May's Chihuahua, Felix and his girlfriend Sahara.

Humour, angst, action, romance and heat.

Bimbo heroine

nothing wrong with narrator but really did not want to waste time listening about a bimbo with a tiny dog.

Don't bother

The one star is for the story idea which could have been so good. I gave up on it in the end.
The female character is so annoying. At first I thought it might be the narrator that annoyed me but the character's constant internal debates and freak outs over nothing were just too much. I skipped a few parts that were so cringe worthy listening to her.
There is no character development. How can the reader fall for ozzy and may when we know nothing about ozzy at all really. A male POV would help this but even without the characters having conversations about their past etc. would help.
The only consolation is it was free to listen to with my kindle app so didn't waste credit. if I had I'd be asking for exchange.
I was tempted to try the second book as the sister may be completely different but honestly if the author can't develop their characters I can't see it being much better tbh.
