Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
Our bones are the silent witnesses to the lives we lead. Our stories are marbled into their marrow.
Drawing upon her years of research and a wealth of remarkable experience, the world-renowned forensic anthropologist Dame Sue Black takes us on a journey of revelation. From skull to feet, via the face, spine, chest, arms, hands, pelvis and legs, she shows that each part of us has a tale to tell. What we eat, where we go, everything we do leaves a trace, a message that waits patiently for months, years, sometimes centuries, until a forensic anthropologist is called upon to decipher it.
Some of this information is easily understood, some holds its secrets tight and needs scientific cajoling to be released. But by carefully piecing together the evidence, the facts of a life can be rebuilt. Limb by limb, case by case - some criminal, some historical, some unaccountably bizarre - Dame Sue Black reconstructs with intimate sensitivity and compassion the hidden stories in what we leave behind.

Gripping, fascinating and jaw dropping
This audiobook is as much scientifically and anatomically fascinating, as it is emotional and shocking. I did not want it to end! Thank you!!

A must read for anyone into forensic anthropology
I didn't expect to adore this book so much!
I am an archaeologist with a background in human osteology, and had hoped this would just be a good book for brushing up on my anatomy.
It was more than that- whilst it was very informative on the human body & function, the personal stories of the author gave me a huge insight into the life of a forensic anthropologist. It is very gripping, and I was disappointed when it ended, as it was just that good.

Just brilliant..
Professor Sue Black is engaging, witty, compassionate and endearingly honest. It’s not all writers who can narrate their own work, but I could listen to Professor Black’s mellifluous voice all day, and together with such a fascinating insight into her scientific field, this is ‘must listen’ audio book!

both the writing, and the narration.
Dr Sue Black is a compelling and fascinating storyteller, and a consummate professional who, in her books, makes both the scientific and human aspects of her job interesting, informative, and understandable. I've listened to two of her audiobpoks so far, and at the end of each, have been left wanting more.
forensic anthropology is a subject that I have long been curious to explore: listening to this obviously highly respected expert in her field, brings every aspect to life. Thank you, Dr Black.
