Summary

Lillian Linden is a liar. On the surface, she looks like a brave survivor of a plane crash. But she's been lying to her family, her friends, and the whole world since rescue helicopters scooped her and her fellow survivor, Dave Hall, off a deserted island in the South Pacific. Missing for almost two years, the castaways are thrust into the spotlight after their rescue, becoming media darlings overnight. But they can't tell the real story--so they lie.

The public is fascinated by the castaways' saga, but Lillian and Dave must return to their lives and their spouses. Genevieve Randall--a hard-nosed journalist and host of a news program--isn't buying it. She suspects Lillian's and Dave's explanations about the other crash survivors aren't true. And now, Genevieve's determined to get the real story, no matter how many lives it destroys.

In this intriguing tale of survival, secrets, and redemption, two everyday people thrown together by tragedy must finally face the truth…even if it tears them apart.

Wreckage by Emily Bleeker

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This was one of the best books I have listened to in a while. I thought at first it was going to be a bit convoluted but got so engrossed that it was an easy listen

What other book might you compare Wreckage to, and why?

I cannot think of another book to compare it with

What does Kristin Watson Heintz and Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

The action voices were extremely good and bought the drama home

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

hell in paradise

Any additional comments?

first time I have ever read this author will be looking for more by her.

Enthralling

I liked how the timeline went back and forth between present day and time on the island. The use of the two narrators was affective. The plot was original and not at all boring. Loved it.

This is absolutely awful

How on earth did this get published? It's dreadful; predictable hackneyed plot, unlikeable characters, stilted dialogue, poor structure. It's like a 15 year old wrote a Mills and Boon romance crossed with a daytime soap after watchimg an episode of Hawaii 5-0.

The narration was ok, nobody could have done much with this awful, silly book.

A literal wreckage of a story

“The best part of this book is the description of the story, fiction at its best.”
Imagine Gilligan's Island, or Fantasy Island played as if they were Life of Pi and you begin to get a slight idea of how terrible this book is. A plane crashes in the south pacific and three people out of five survive, the old woman dies by laptop death, the air hostess by a seating mix up and flirting. Survival is not described in any meaningful or believable way, we are told of fishing large tuna fish fishing with spears ( I did not know how easy tuna is to fish), bananas and coconuts are mentioned as the other diet. the men hunt the woman does laundry and takes long baths naked, on special days she has different scented shampoo, they also celebrate Christmas and all her children's birthdays, they were going to celebrate her husbands but she felt guilty after having sex with one of the survivors…….. from there thing got more and totally unbelievable and not well thought out. I did try for a very long time, to find something that would save this wreckage but it was a downward spiral. this book wants to be a kind of forbidden romance, permitted only because of the plane crushing, but fails to spark any reality of feelings. The interview is not believable and the interviewer is a bad parody. The secrets and lies are ludicrous at best, but I will not disclose them out of respect for those that still would like to read this soap opera disguised as a book.
Where was the editor? why was this book printed? Who is it for? Why do I feel so insulted?

The suspense didn't exactly kill me

Would you try another book written by Emily Bleeker or narrated by Kristin Watson Heintz and Luke Daniels ?

I didn't enjoy the story at all, I guessed the big secret by the end of the first hour. I like foreshadowing as a literary device but it just didn't work here. I had no sympathy with any of the main characters. I found myself wishing that the journalist would rat them out on live TV just to add a bit of excitement. The narration was fine, just a shame about the material.

What will your next listen be?

I've just downloaded Sleep Tight by Rachel Abbott

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I suppose the plane crash and the days in the lifeboat, quite vivid descriptions

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Some nice characterisation and setting descriptions of the island, making for a nice contrast with their respective lives back home.

Yawn

So boring, so predictable. I read the blurb and for some reason just hoped it might be a tiny bit different. I was wrong. Predictable from before the crash even happened. What a waste of a credit!
