About this listen

The skies are vast and filled with enemies, and I’ve got them in my crosshairs.

Rest and relaxation don’t last forever. A little bird has arrived with a special mission for me and my team. It's a job only we can handle.

We must return to the site of our previous battle to search for intel and technology, but the Empire will do everything they can to stop us.

Even if it means hunting us to the edge of the world.

I’m back in the sky where I belong, flying head-first toward danger. Thankfully, I’m not alone. There’s a beautiful wolf, lion, and squirrel girl keeping me company, both in the sky and in my cabin.

Old enemies, and old flames, stand in my way. Once I clear one obstacle, another appears to thwart me.

I’m pushing myself to the limits to protect those I love. My minder abilities continue to expand, and a mysterious voice guides me to new limits. I need to surpass them all so I can see tomorrow, and continue my push for one hundred kills.

I love the setting of the story and how the two narrators bring everyone to life. the interconnected characters are great, flaws and all. the MC has some moments where he is too cocky but that lines up with his ace pilot character.

what I found vaguely frustrating is the pacing. the story started really slow and I found the slice of life stuff almost too slow when the real strength of this story is the combat setting. while seeing the relationships develop and getting some amazing spicy scenes in, at one point I did a monty python and yelled "get on with it!" because I wanted to see the larger plot advance.

this isn't helped with how characters will reiterate things to each other, essentially describing what they just did to other characters in detail, which makes parts of the book feel padded. luckily that's only a couple of areas. it can also impact the sense of urgency that is supposedly going on. a knock on to that is how some major events are just tied up neatly, while the relationship drama is focused on. I wanted more of the political shenanigans with his brother in law (and I honestly expected a different twist) with maybe a redemption element for the mistakes there.

all that being said, this is a damn fine book, with wonderful descriptions of combat and I eagerly await book three where I hope to see more luftwaffe ass being kicked!

Excellent action and wonderful acting
