About this listen

The long-awaited explosive climax to the first arc of the Number One New York Times bestselling Stormlight Archive.

Dalinar Kholin challenged the evil god Odium to a contest of champions with the future of Roshar on the line. The Knights Radiant have only ten days to prepare-and the sudden ascension of the crafty and ruthless Taravangian to take Odium's place has thrown everything into disarray.

Desperate fighting continues simultaneously worldwide-Adolin in Azimir, Sigzil and Venli at the Shattered Plains, and Jasnah at Thaylen City. The former assassin, Szeth, must cleanse his homeland of Shinovar from the dark influence of the Unmade. He is accompanied by Kaladin, who faces a new battle helping Szeth fight his own demons . . . and who must do the same for the insane Herald of the Almighty, Ishar.

At the same time, Shallan, Renarin, and Rlain work to unravel the mystery behind the Unmade Ba-Ado-Mishram and her involvement in the enslavement of the singer race and in the ancient Knights Radiants killing their spren. And Dalinar and Navani seek an edge against Odium's champion that can be found only in the Spiritual Realm, where memory and possibility combine in chaos. The fate of the entire Cosmere hangs in the balance.

Good continuation of my favourite series. I unfortunately think the continuous focus on the mental health aspect detracts somewhat.
A certain amount of it can add to a story by providing character depth, a constant focus on it starts to lend the feel of a children's story book designed to teach morals. Whilst moral lessons are not a bad thing in itself, I don't think that is the reason most of the listeners to the cosmere.
The book could have been 30% shorter without so much of it, and much better for it.
Still very much worth reading for those already invested in the Arc.

good book, slightly ruined by too much focus on characters inner turmoil.

A great ending to part 1. Cannot believe I might need to wait 10 years for part 2

A powerful end of part 1

A fantastic ending to the fist half of this series (fist half😂😭!! Damn you Sanderson!!). Only he could have ended a (half) series like this, but I guess the half aspect is the point! All I’m saying is: he better hurry up.

I’m not going to leave any form of recommendation, as you could only possibly read this after having read the others 4 books prior to it, and there’s no way you can stop at 4! Mind you there’s no way you could stop here unless the other books aren’t written yet. Damn you Brandon Sanderson and your incredible writing!

Magnificent!!!

It’s just the best series. Great performances, fantastic story. Well done Brandon. Journey before Destination.

Great as ever

I didn’t anticipate it going in that direction (no spoilers). Sanderson knows how to break the hearts of the readers and leaves us begging for more. This story arc is finished but what direction will the next 5 books go? Can’t wait to find out!!

Still can’t believe it!!

A triumph of modern literature, outstanding! Branson Sanderson strikes again with a stunning finale to the first half of the stormlight archive.

Outstanding piece of literature

What can I even say? It has been an absolute pleasure to read this and I remain in awe of Sanderson's skill. My heart is full and I will be thinking on this first arc of Stormlight Archive for many years to come. I cannot wait to see what comes next.

So Stormlight right, it's getting really chaotic and a little bit disorganised, there's some weak narratives, some unintentionally funny way too on-the-nose character moments, frustrating subversion of expectations, awkward romances, some really dumb dialogue, but honestly I'm so glad this exists and I am 100% committed because I have faith that Sanderson will stick the landing and frankly what he gets right in this latest installment VASTLY outweighs the weaknesses. I finished this whilst at work and kid you not I had tears in my eyes. Masterpiece.

MASTERPIECE

This was the hardest book for me in the series. Really struggled to get in to it at points thought I would have it done in a couple of weeks but instead is was a couple of months, without another book on the go. You could see that as a positive as well.

The story itself is epic as expected an can’t wait for the next arc so many questions!

Just not looking forward to the wait!

Slow but epic
