About this listen

Scholar and award-winning author Faith Fitzgerald has every reason to be happy: a wealthy, charming man who adores her and a family cheering her marriage prospects. But from the moment she meets Eric's sister, Sydney Van Allen, she knows her safe, predictable feelings for him are a shadow of what could be.

Openly lesbian and running for senator, Sydney can only succeed if she can live down her wild past. That means no liaisons, especially with the achingly alluring woman on her brother's arm who looks at her with confusion - and desire.

Loved this

I enjoyed this so much it was difficult for me to leave it be. The characters pulled me in. I loved being part of this journey. Excellent writing from a wonderful Author.

Abby, I can't find any other voice/narrator, that is so capable of making each character so individual. You are so skilled in your craft and an absolute must in my book.

Great story, would love a follow up!

Great narration, and a lovely story. Would love a sequel! I loved the characters and wanted it to go on a bit longer.

Finished really quickly

This was lining up to be a lovely book but it ended too quickly than I would have liked

Courage to be…

I loved this book for the exploration of misguided judgements and religious beliefs. Karin shows us that we can escape prejudice and control and live a life of truth, freedom and love. I found this book totally uplifting and enlightening and a must for anyone struggling within a religious faith to be who they are..

The Clue is........

The clue is in the audiobook length ! Wild Things had so much potential but as with so many audiobooks of this genre, it was rushed at the end !
At just over 5 hours this story was never going to indulge in anything so mundane as 'a well rounded story', just they have got together so 'The End' !
AC did a great job, and her two main character voices worked this time.

Political Romance

Fantastic story, great literary references. Sad touches of the Catholic Church a few sad references. Good historical content too.

Wow

This is my first read (or rather listen) to Karin Kallmaker and I’ll be definitely seeking out more by this author.
I was invested in the main characters: Sydney Van Allen, the would-be politician and Faith Fitzgerald the devout catholic historian, and her potential fiancee Eric who happens to be Sydney’s brother. Full of angst, drama and an overwhelming magnetism between the MCs this was quite unlike any other lesfic I’ve read. I was actually fascinated by the historical elements of Faith’s research and the parallels between how women have to fight for what they want and be true to themselves in life and love, and challenge this man’s world. Admittedly this is a book from pre 2000 and things are thankfully a little different now.

Thought provoking

It’s great that there has been some positive progress from the Catholic Church since this book was written. This, however, does not make it outdated but rather still provides some food for thought. I like that I come away with a bit more knowledge of something after a Karin Kallmaker book and this time it was about Eleanor of Aquitaine.

Enlightening

This was a very honest novel that in my opinion had so much more to give.
I'm not a spoiler so won't draw on content for this review. Suffice to say it was a wonderful story of love, hate, denial and misunderstanding.
As we continue to evolve as a species I hope our willingness to grasp new things will overtake the pernicious doubt that is created, in the name of religion and bigotry.
Enjoy .
