Amazing book

After reading this book I decided to delete all my social media accounts, and it is amazing how this small changes can make out lives better

Thought provoking and interesting

Loved this audiobook. Lots of interesting points, some already known but others I hadn't thought about and links various social media consumptions to mental health. There are tips on how to limit what your social media use and discussions about why one might feel the need to use it. I particularly liked Katherine's insights into how 'millenials' are being criticised for certain traits, but when we look at the changes in the world and how social media is part of their life, with some young adults not having memories of a pre-Internet world, it is understandable that they have different outlooks and thoughts to previous generations.

Much better than expected

Even with an already heavy scepticism of social media I found this very thought provoking. I found it, relatable not preaceing and has ignited some interesting conversations amongst friends and peers. A better use of time rather than scrolling other peoples lives.

Astoundingly disappointing, closer to modern feminist autobiography.

Disappointing, hopefully I will be able to find a book which would do justice to the title of this book.

Using all of the buzz words and rhetoric of the woke collective, this female focused perspective not only alienates anyone who happens to be of the opposite sex, but also anyone who falls on a different political side of the author or even anyone who frankly likes to read or listen to a well written book. The description of this book most certainly needs to mention the word feminist in it somewhere.

Spoiler alert: To top it off an anticlimactic solution is proposed in a pep-talk manner which is to remain using social media but just be more aware of your consumption which by this book’s own admission doesn’t work. Perhaps I was expecting too much after being so impressed by Jaron Lanier’s ‘Ten arguments to delete social media accounts right now’!

Furthermore the divergence into the authors very dull autobiography, loosely connected back to social media makes it feel that this book’s title missed the mark by several trillion lightyears.

This is a great book for anyone willing to be suckered into wanting to hear/read about a robust investigation of the evils of social media and then be very quickly segwayed into the authors personal life, political persuasion, and complete lack of focus on what she is writing about.

This book continued to astound me in how disappointing it was, even more so as I never write reviews normally.

Too focused on women and feminism

I will admit I haven't finished this book, but I'm half way through and the beginning is great, it's all about social media and I've learned a lot, but then it really delves into feminism, fat acceptance etc. Also the book seems to be targeted at women only and completely ignoring men when it comes to why social media is bad.

Soulless

When you call yourself an influencer I just take can’t you seriously anymore. I was looking for a deeper more real stance on the matter. To much jargon that comes from being a little bubble
