Summary
Why Can’t We All Just Get Along is part-memoir, part-polemic about the state of public discourse in Britain and the world today.
In an increasingly divided society, Iain examines why we’ve all become so disrespectful and intolerant. Using experiences from his career in politics and the media, he says it doesn’t have to be this way, and suggests how we can all emerge from tribalism and division and become more respectful to each other and those who govern us. It is a book that is optimistic about the fundamental decencies embedded in human nature and uses deeply personal anecdotes to explain why we can look forward in a positive way to a better life both in personal and material terms.
Critic reviews
"There are very few commentators and broadcasters with an instinctive feel for real politics who feel the passions, and who understand the flaws and the strengths of the players from the inside, with proper empathy. Iain Dale does, which makes him endlessly listenable-to and peerless. For many political-addicts, he is their warm but watchful friend." (Andrew Marr)
"Iain Dale is that rare beast a forensic and mischievous interviewer with a deep sense of humanity and kindness beneath the brilliant probing. His interviews yield light as well as heat - and he has a genuine ability to step away from his own zone - to see things from a much needed, alternative perspective." (Emily Maitlis)
"Smart, funny, and always on it, he makes me feel happier and cleverer every time I hear him speak. Watch Iain Dale open the kimono - can I rephrase that?" (Jeremy Vine)

Phenomenal- thoroughly enjoyed it!
I bought this book on audible after following Iain Dale on twitter for quite a while because I think he has a lot of sensible opinions, plus he harps on about it quite a lot.
I'm very glad I did!
It ticks so many boxes for me. He tackles several divisive topics in a very balanced way, giving a platform for subjects that often get shyed away from in any meaningful way due to the (in my view) the incompetence of so many political journalists and by politicians because the issues at hand are too contentious and they want to play the field and be popular. He draws on many of his own experiences and enables the reader to learn so much more about his life.
The discussions are very easy to follow and I found it hard to disagree with much of what Iain put forward. I think a book like this really does well if I'm going away inspired to read around the subjects that he speaks on.
His narration was fantastic. A couple of times I found I laughed out loud with him but also nearly welled up when his voice breaks. (this isn't a mopey book, don't be put off by that).
All in all, as you could assume from the above I highly recommend this read. I think I'm probably going to get myself a signed copy from his website as well... Iain Dale has gained a listener for his radio show in me!

Though provoking
Big fan of Ian Dale’s media and his book and narrating of his book is fantastic. His chapter on the NHS is very thought provoking and the final chapters heartbreaking.

Worth listening to
I dont share inn's views on day to day politics. however he's always thoughtful and gives intelligent views, sadly a rare thing in politics these days. this book aims to promote civil debate and is a great argument for it

A BookThat Makes You Think!
I found Iain’s narration really great. His voice is so pleasant and makes listening pleasureable. The book was also well written and full of good common sense about how public discourse has deteriorated recently . It is a much needed subject and sets out plainly what has gone wrong. I would like to see this book distributed in A level classes and among university students to help young people to understand that we can disagree without becoming abusive. I can thoroughly recommend this book. This is the first time i have felt i should review any Audible book and i can thoroughly recommend it to all listeners!

So why can’t we?? I have
This book was a confirmation of everything I have thought and done since forever.
I thought I wouldn’t like it. But I have. I’m a Remainer. And a labour supporter but I have come away sharing the author’s political philosophy but I have disagreed with him.
The current times I hope change people and the way we treat others.
A book well listened to. Would recommend this to everyone who wants to hear the other side with a little bit of respect.
