KATE, 2019
Kate flees London – abandoning everything – for Cumbria and Weyward Cottage, inherited from her great-aunt. There, a secret lurks in the bones of the house, hidden ever since the witch-hunts of the 17th century.
VIOLET, 1942
Violet is more interested in collecting insects and climbing trees than in becoming a proper young lady. Until a chain of shocking events changes her life forever.
ALTHA, 1619
Altha is on trial for witchcraft, accused of killing a local man. Known for her uncanny connection with nature and animals, she is a threat that must be eliminated.
But Weyward women belong to the wild. And they cannot be tamed…
Weaving together the stories of three women across five centuries, Weyward is an enthralling novel of female resilience and the transformative power of the natural world.

"Humming with a sly, exhilarating magic." (Bridget Collins, author of The Binding)
"Beguiling, absorbing and exquisitely-rendered." (Lizzie Pook, author of Moonlight and the Pearler's Daughter)

Excellent story and reading.
The triple story and different generations makes the most of this subject of inherited gifts of nature.

Slow burner
This was quite a slow burner for me. The accents and phrases grated on me a bit but I found mid way through I had become very much gripped by all three womens stories. It was a good and enjoyable listen

Engrossed from the start.
I cannot put into words how much I loved this story! It's so rare to find a great book that I can love from the first few chapters and be completely hooked on. great narration from all 3 narrators and a very satisfying ending. I can't wait to read more from Emilia Hart.

Gripping and beautiful, albeit a bit repetitive
I couldn’t put this book down and was touched by the story. One critique is that there was some unnecessary repetition. I enjoyed the voice actors’ performance, they made the characters very distinct and personable.

Keeps you interested
I liked the three stories alternating particularly the fact that they followed on easily without some of the annoying instances where you lose track. Slightly too much emphasis on the insects and birds maybe. A good book club choice.

I loved how the different eras entertwined.
It was a little predictable in parts but still a great story. Not much else I didn't like
