Listened twice. Very human story which rises above culture and speaks of dilemmas, uncertainties and frailties found anywhere in the world. Certainly an education for the Western mind. Great book, great insights, great reader.

A great listen to immerse yourself in a totally different world. Beautifully narrated and absorbing - and I liked the irony/concept of the Western-educated PhD/writer character.

A book that immerses the reader in a world of almost a different dimension from our western familiarity. It is absorbing and disturbing. The Audible version is superbly read and the Asian accent of the narrator adds conviction that I don't think I would have enjoyed reading myself. I wholeheartedly recommend this amazing book. It is not a cozy experience!
