Summary

FROM THE #1 BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB

A brand new series.

An iconic new detective duo.

And a thrilling new murder to solve . . .

Steve Wheeler is enjoying retired life. He does the odd bit of investigation work, but he prefers his familiar habits and routines: the pub quiz, his favourite bench, his cat waiting for him when he comes home. His days of adventure are over: adrenaline is daughter-in-law Amy’s business now.

Amy Wheeler thinks adrenaline is good for the soul. As a private security officer, she doesn’t stay still long enough for habits or routines. She’s currently on a remote island keeping world-famous author Rosie D’Antonio alive. Which was meant to be an easy job . . .

Then a dead body, a bag of money and a killer with their sights on Amy have her sending an SOS to the only person she trusts. A breakneck race around the world begins, but can Amy and Steve stay one step ahead of a deadly enemy?

'The thing that shines through in Osman’s writing is that he really likes people and revels in all their foibles and eccentricities. All of which makes for a delightful read – and another little slice of warmth in time for autumn' THE OBSERVER

'This is a sitcom-meets-Bond, and a fine murder mystery’ DAILY EXPRESS

'Much as with the earlier books, I read We Solve Murders in a few pleasured gulps' SUNDAY TIMES

Editorial Review

A retired detective, a kick-ass bodyguard, and a cat named Trouble
I always feel a dash of anxiety when one of my favourite authors kicks off something totally new, but the fantastic new series starter from Richard Osman does not disappoint. There are some familiar tropes at play: retiree Steve Wheeler dabbling in investigatory work, a diverse cast of characters who come together over pints and trivia. But he ups the ante with Steve's daughter-in-law Amy, a truly hardcore veteran-turned-bodyguard who works for an elite protection contractor. And the murders these two find themselves needing to solve are epic and global in scale. In true Osman form, the dialogue is punchy, fast-paced and smart, making this listen completely impossible to put down thanks to Nicola Walker's adroit and vibrant narration. — Emily C., Audible Editor

Another brilliant book

I’ve been looking forward to this and I wasn’t disappointed. It has the great balance of engaging characters, excitement and humour that we’ve come to expect in a Richard Osman book.

What a story!

Once again Richard Osman has taken me on a thrilling adventure, I loved the main characters Steve, Amy and Rosie and very quickly came to care about Tony Felicity and Bonnie too. RO is a master storyteller meandering through the human condition using the subtle and sometimes not so subtle British sense of humour and self really to brilliant effect. I am a great admirer of Nicola Walker as an actor and now also as a narrator this has been a fantastic experience thank you.

Most enjoyable book ever listened to

Not just a strong story but a good understanding of each character and place. Having lived in the New Forest I could really relate. Have bought the hardback for the Mrs as she does not do audio books

Well worth the wait!

Had the launch date pencilled in my diary months ago and downloaded on audible as soon as it came out. Another cracking read from RO with fantastic characters and settings. Wonderful touch of humour and feeling and had me with tears in my eyes at the end. Already looking forward to the next book in the series x

Lovely characters and very funny

Great storyline which kept me guessing and laughing. I listened a second time so I could get to grips with the new characters and the bits I missed first time around. I’m now hooked! (again!) 😂Another great story Richard!

Brilliant storyline

Loved it from start to finish, couldn’t put it down. As good as any of the Thursday Murder club stories which I have loved.

Cozy Crime at it's best

I enjoy cozy crime books as you get to enjoy the "
who done it" aspect without the psychological impacts of thrillers. With that said ever since the last Thursday murder Club book, I've been reading mountains of mediocre books from this genre. Not the case here. Richard Osman always builds great characters with meaningful relationships and for me he stands at the top of the pile of the current crop of writers in Cozy Crime.

Perfect marriage of story, character and narrator - did not disappoint! Nicola Walker does a superb job and I'm already thinking who will star in the film! Hmmmmm Jodie Comer for Amy....
