Summary

Starting with her own story of displacement as an internally displaced person, Malala introduces listeners to what it means to lose your home, your community and the only world you've ever known. She shares the personal stories of some of the incredible girls she has met on her various journeys to refugee camps and the cities where refugee girls and their families have settled. The anecdotes focus on different parts of each girl's story - from what it was like the day she left her home to what daily life is like in a refugee camp.

In a time of immigration crises, war, and border conflicts, We Are Displaced is an important reminder from one of the most famous people to experience displacement that everyone deserves universal human rights and a home.

Powerful and moving

I cannot say how powerful and moving this book is.
The inner strength of the young women is so inspiring. Their experiences saddened me greatly but gave me a real insight into how people become displaced and the impact this has.The courage shown by all in the book, individually and collectively made me want to campaign for change.
I am going to listen again to this book for sure

Great moving stories

This is a brilliant collection of powerful, moving stories from refugees. 'Inspirational' is an overused word but their accounts of the trauma they've suffered and the struggles they've had to achieve a better life do make you appreciate the opportunities you might have taken for granted. Essential reading.
