About this listen

He's cocky, seven feet tall, scaly, and green. She's been burned in the past. Can an alien and a human woman find true love together?

Burned by an ex, the last thing Evie wants is a husband, especially a seven-foot-tall, green-skinned alien. But when she applies to the Extraterrestrial Matchmaking Service on a dare, she's paired with Vork and sent to Crakair as a mail-order bride. Vork is big and dangerous, and he hits all her buttons. Passion sparks between them, but does she dare trust this sexy alien with her heart?

As a career spacefleet commander, the last thing Vork has time for is a mate. But after a mix-up, he's matched with a human female. He decides he'll produce a child with her, then get back to his life in the stars. Until he touches Evie and a matebond flares on his palm. When a rival warlord challenges Vork and Evie is the prize, Vork will have to decide: give Evie up, or battle to the death to claim her as his bride.

Vork is book one in the Mail-Order Brides of Crakair series, but it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone.

This was a good beginning to a continuing series. Mail-order brides is quite a common theme in scifi romances but I like how well-rounded this story was.
Characters were likable and I only had one 'cringe' moment in the whole story. I think that's pretty good. 😉

The female narrator had a bit monotonous voice occasionally, but overall both did a good job.

I recommend trying this series, it's an easy listen and at least in this first book we get a long sneak peak to the next one..

New author for me, was happy I tried her book!

It was a sweet story, enjoyed it as a whole. Teddy was amazing as always, but I have to agree with other comments. Tawnia performance did feel slightly choppy. At the start when the translator was referenced, I thought it was to coincide with the story. But then it stayed that way. I just feel like it needed more emotion from her. However still an enjoyable listen as a whole.

Overall sweet story

Teddy Hamilton was great as always, but I wasn't a fan of Tawnia Murray's narration.

Narration average

Alien romance is not a genre I'm familiar with. In fact this was my first. It is absolutely cliché and cheesy, but I still could not put it down.

What I liked:

- The narrators were good, especially the male voice which did all kinds of things to my ovaries.

- Vork was an honourable man, an utterly gentleman, and a freak in the sheets. That ticks all of my boxes!

- The relationship was quite pure and genuine (no actual issues) so I could just enjoy them enjoying each other.

- The sex scenes were super steamy and very creative. I love them.

What I didn't like:

- The plot is lacking (both main and sub-plots). But if you just sit back and enjoy the smutty scenes then you'll soon forget that there is a world beyond the bedroom.

- It's extremely cheesy, even as far as the romance goes. But I forgave it and enjoyed the easy read.

I'm just here for the smut!

This is a great storyline. With good strong characters I really enjoyed it. Learning how to love quickly it’s a great insta-love book. A brilliant performance from both narrators.

Enjoyable

Female narrator was a no.. zero emotion very robotic it was very annoying.
some narrators can easily mess up a good story.

Good story but..

Teddy amazing as always. Tawnia not so much. Zero inflection in her tone and it’s choppy clipping off sentences was jarring. Teddy was awesome though and redeemed it.

Story ok, this series improves in time

The female narrator was quite boring and monotone. The story also felt rushed but is to be expected with it being 6hrs. I’d give it a 5/10

Spice was spicing. Storyline lacking

I really enjoyed this story as well narration although I did speed up to 1.20x good short story with funny moments. I enjoyed the alien communication mishaps.

Good story, narration too

This has been a fun listen with alien/human marriages/matings. Vork and Evie have been matched and embark upon a truly different 'getting to know you' process. Teddy Hamilton and Tawnia Murray are great. The story flows in their capable hands 💖💖💖💖

Good fun!
