"Viaggio in Italia" è il resoconto di viaggio del Grand Tour che Johann Wolfgang von Goethe compì in Italia in circa due anni, a partire dal settembre del 1786. L'opera è considerata un vero e proprio caposaldo della storia del turismo perché da essa si manifesta un nuovo modo di viaggiare, un viaggio di tipo "antropologico".

Da Goethe, infatti, il viaggio assume una forma in cui non si impara solo, come nei tipici Grand Tour, a conoscere la politica, la cultura, l'arte e le antichità dei paesi europei ma anche ad apprezzare i tratti più comuni delle popolazioni visitate, grazie a giri turistici, a frequentazioni degli ambienti locali, come mercati, chiese, e all'incontro con le persone. Particolarmente approfondite le descrizioni di Venezia, Roma, Napoli e della Sicilia.
