Berlin 1949: Ein Arzt stürzt vom Dach einer Klinik für Geschlechts- und Infektionskrankheiten. Spätestens als im sowjetisch kontrollierten Teil der Stadt ein Mord geschieht und der Vater von Kommissar Stein, ein strammer Kommunist und ein Ermittler der Markgraf-Polizei, seinen Sohn bittet, herauszufinden, wen der Tote im Westen hatte treffen wollen, wird Kommissar Stein klar, dass es einen Zusammenhang zwischen den Morden gibt.
