Summary

There's always one more grave to dig.

Lately, life has been unnaturally calm for vampires Cat Crawfield and her husband, Bones. They should have known better than to relax their guard, because a shocking revelation sends them back into action to stop an all-out war.…

A rogue CIA agent is involved in horrifying secret activities that threaten to raise tensions between humans and the undead to dangerous heights. Now Cat and Bones are in a race against time to save their friends from a fate worse than death…because the more secrets they unravel, the deadlier the consequences. And if they fail, their lives - and those of everyone they hold dear - will be hovering on the edge of the grave.

Brilliant end to a brilliant series

What made the experience of listening to Up from the Grave the most enjoyable?

I have loved all of this series and I was wondering how she would draw it to an end without killing anyone off. I have read some reviews on Amazon and they were not that favourable but I loved this book right from the start!! Usual snappy dialogue and laugh out loud moments. Lots of highs and lows - a true roller coaster of a book

What was one of the most memorable moments of Up from the Grave?

Plot spoiler here but when Bones was killed I was gutted - couldn't quite see how they would manage to get him to come back BUT then I remembered an earlier book.......

What about Tavia Gilbert’s performance did you like?

I love the fact that you know who is talking by the accent she uses. At the beginning Bones' accent slipped a bit but she was soon back into the swing of things. She puts so much feeling into the reading that it makes a good book even easier to read.

Great

Where does Up from the Grave rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Amongst the leaders and up with the best of them

What other book might you compare Up from the Grave to, and why?

Because of the fight over the child it is like Twilight, but is much better

Have you listened to any of Tavia Gilbert’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Follows on from the last 6 perfectly

Any additional comments?

Other than being a really good book, no.

Good Ending

What did you like most about Up from the Grave?

It was a suitable end to good series. Complex well written story as always.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Up from the Grave?

The scene on the jetty where Bones and Kat meet their nemesis.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I couldn't listen to it at one sitting - the scene on the jetty and the immediate aftermath was so well written, I found it stressful and I had a little weep - I had to put the story aside for a little while.

Any additional comments?

It was a good end to a very well written series - the action scenes were strong and the book made me laugh and cry. If I have one negative it would be the narrator who as read all 7 books in the series sometimes forgot that the 'hero' Bones was English cockney and read him as upper crust which I found confusing but the slips did not detract from a powerful story. I know I will read the whole series.

fantastic

this chapter in bones and cats story is fantastic. I knew the Madigan storyline had to be coming and would no doubt be good but this book held no punches and I loved it.
there are lots of surprises in this book, secrets kept and revealed from a fair few characters, if you're like me, some you'll guess and others will catch you out but all make for a really great read.
I sincerely hope this isn't the last we've heard from cat and bones, life will be truely dull without them.

Sad to have the series end :(

Where does Up from the Grave rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As a series I have to say it is one of my all time favorites and is very easy to listen to it over and over. From the series it's one of my favorites but have moments that were all very predictable.

What other book might you compare Up from the Grave to, and why?

This is more of a series question and I would have to say the only books I have red that are similar is the Yellow-rock Series and the Nice Girls series.

What about Tavia Gilbert’s performance did you like?

I think she really does desperation very well. When Kat is in a battle and struggling or upset, Gilbert manages convey that all very well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Because all the big drama scenes I predicted the hidden twists long before they happen. So I would have to pick when Marie Laveau told Kat not to cry.

Wouah.

Amazing. Awesome. Fascinating. Just. Wouah. Saying i loved is an euphemism. I just want more Cat/Katie stories now. But that was and is the best story i have ever read/listened to. Thanks Jeaniene! And thanks to the narrator, that was just great!

A trial...

I’ve loved the stories from the beginning however the last book and this book were difficult to get through.

Not sure whether it was due to the writing or whether it was due to the narrator but Bones went from cockney to upperclass accent and it was difficult to get around.

I found myself pondering several times whether I could bare it as the book continued. If it was due to the narrator alone, I’m not sure how it got passed the studio. Unless it was something I missed in one of the other books...

That being said, the story is good, very well thought out. I probably would have enjoyed it better had I read it instead.
