Blake and Sean are planning their brothers' wedding. I liked them very much from the beginning. They are likeable, funny and charming and yet very different. When they have to share a bed, the two get closer. Blake isn’t as straight as Sean thought, is he?

It is a slow burning story, in which the humor is not neglected. But Romeo Alexander also knows how to tell the story emotionally. It’s about Sean and Blake, and it’s about Blane and Eric’s wedding. The wedding was very emotional. A really sweet story to feel good about, because Blake and Sean have great chemistry. It’s about love and acceptance.

I was listening to the audiobook Keith Smith narrated. I listened to a few audio books narrated by him and he’s getting better and better. He gives the different characters different voices, but is not always completely convincing. Overall, the narration was okay, but not outstanding.

I like the series “Heroes of Port Dale” and would like to recommend it

I loved this book!
It’s part of a series with two main characters of another book having a significant role (as they both are the two MCs brothers), but can be absolutely be read as a standalone.
Blake and Sean are so funny, hot and unexpected! Sean is a lot more forward than anyone expects him to be, as he usually presents as very laid-back (and according to his brother is almost sexless!). Blake has never been anything but straight, but apart from a very brief wondering what that he is all about, he very easily and willingly steps into his newfound bisexuality (or Sean-sexuality?).
I love that there’s no major drama or unnecessary angst (well, unless you count out time-bomb Eric – Sean’s brother – and his epic meltdowns, which are oh so funny!).

the narration kept pulling me from the story so I couldn't get lost in the book and I didn't enjoy it as much as I should have. I'm not sure if it was the narrator's decision or the author's direction for the character which I guess would make a difference in the performance rating. There seemed to be a pause between every word during one character's dialogue. The rest of the reading was fine so it just seemed like a poor choice of voice to distinguish between the different people speaking. If you can get past that part of the narration then I think I would have given 4 stars across.

cute story but...

I enjoyed this story. Though it takes place over only a few days it has a slowburn feel to it, that I liked. The chemistry between Sean and Blake was good. The book has quite a bit of humour in it. I was a bit worried that they would drift apart once back in the city but they were just too attracted to each other to let that happen.

The narrator was new to me but I'm not sure I'll be seeking them out again. The main story and the two mail characters were well narrated but their two brothers were very staccato in a way O didn't particularly cared for.

I'd give the story 3 stars but the narration 2.

The narration here comes across as uninspired though that just about matches the material. Ostensibly a meet-cute, forced proximity story about two best men forced to share a room at a same sex male wedding, the author doesn’t make much of those circumstances and instead adds more - the two best men are uncertain about their sexual orientation, etc. (though neither convincingly presents themselves as heterosexual). There are also identical twins involved but the author makes nothing of it. There is no real hijinks about planning the wedding, the wedding itself is uneventful (you’ll have a lot of work to do as a listener, imagining an event of any significance, even though it’s a “cop/military” wedding; it also seems to be going on elsewhere). The sexual situations, of which there are very few, are timid to the point of nonexistence - this would be true even if they were featured in a 101 handbook for schoolboys. Instead, this is the kind of book where you will struggle to keep track of the four main characters, some of whom have similar names but really no defining characteristics (it’s no help to know while listening to something that one character is leaner than the other), amidst a lot of not so very witty repartee delivered by a not particularly skilled, bland, colourless narrator. It’s frustrating that in the build up, if you will, to the big day nothing of real significance happens in this would-be romance and one of the suitors gets terribly drunk, which is in keeping with just about every choice this author makes that deprives the listener of any pleasure at all. It’s all work and no play. The book by-passes the wedding to carry on with some further tepid non-events (suddenly one suitor is a motorcycle enthusiast which was never mentioned before and just makes them seem like a cringe-inducing poseur) but nothing ever ignites this romance, the couple seem ill-suited to one another anyway with a bland present and not at all promising future. I know these books are representative of some effort but since the author appears to have a lot of other titles available it might be best to consider one of those and give this one a pass. This one never lives up to the very simple, basic promise of the scenario spelled out in its title and the poor uninspired writing and narration only served to frustrate this listener.
