Summary
After her messy breakup, the last thing grad student Riley Evans expects is to meet someone new. Throw in a family history of bad relationships, the likelihood of the past repeating itself seems inevitable - especially after her ex turns into a stalker. She’s a magnet for disaster. But when a man walks into the Coffee Hut and asks her on a date, she isn’t prepared for the flare of desire. The pull of attraction is impossible to deny, and she gives love a second chance.
Navy SEAL Xander Hale lands in a Hawaii military hospital after a mission gone wrong. If that wasn’t bad enough, his girlfriend breaks up with him. Plagued by his current single status and suspicions over the mission’s bad intel, doubts fester about the direction of his life. Until he stops for coffee and encounters a barista who steals his breath and shifts his priorities from a presumed military career path to civilian.
When danger closes in after a suspicious home invasion, Xander whisks Riley to the safety of his family’s island. On secluded shores, he’s determined to keep her safe. But dark memories are triggered by her past and followed by a hidden threat that neither anticipated.

A thrilling romance
Was pleasantly surprised I enjoyed this so much . Even though I suspected who was behind all Riley’s troubles and the wife is it didn’t spoil the book.

A Thrilling Romance
Twisted Secrets is a fantastic start to the Deadly Isles Special Ops series. I'm a big fan of the romantic suspense/military romance genre, and Twisted Secrets positively delivered. The book is wonderfully written, well-plotted and fast-paced. The storyline is a thrilling, action-pack romance, packed with mystery, stalker, and unexpected twist. Xander and Riley were likeable, charming, and genuine characters. Xander would do anything to protect Riley and ultimately make her his. There was definitely chemistry, passion, and desire, but unresolved issues become a barrier. I can't wait to find out what Ms McKinley has planned for the rest of the series. Regan Brown's narration was outstanding, breathing life into the characters. Overall, this was an exciting, edge of your seat romantic suspense, one I'm strongly recommending.

A brilliant book
When you are in slump after a mission has gone wrong and you start questioning things in your life, in walks an angel and you believe everything will be alright, or will it.
Xander is a navy seal but when his mission with his team goes wrong and causes him to have to take some down time to recover he feels that sometime just was not right with the intel, bit he has more to worry about when his girlfriend decides to leave him he feels like the world is working against him. One day all this changes when he hears a voice that he is instantly drawn too but will he be able to convince the owner of the voice they belong together.
Riley is a grad student, working in a coffee shop to help with the funds but one day she see him, the man who she can't get out of her mind although she is in a relationship but what she thought was in her past, may invade her future.
I loved this story and I love Amy McKinley's novels and this is just as good as the other stories. The chemistry between these two characters was brilliant and drawn you in. Listening to the story draws you in and keeps your attention from the first page to the last.
I also think the secondary characters enhance the story and make this a un deniable great read. The tale twists and turns and brings both of the characters history to light which just adds to the mysteries within the story. I not only recommend this book and can't wait to read the download book in the series but if you love this book you need to listen other series by this wonderful author.

Twisted
Well I was thinking this was going to be another military story and that, that would be the focus of the book boy was I wrong. No instead it’s more of a thriller where your trying to work out who’s doing all the misgivings. I totally loved it and just when I thought I had my answer boom I was wrong. Another enjoyable story by Amy.
As per usual Regan did an amazing job on the narration.

Thriller with a hint of romance!
This audiobook was quick and easy to listen to. Both characters, Navy Seal Xander and graduate student Riley are facing their own dark issues but it seems that Riley's circumstances have a stalkerish, murdering vibe. In both cases, things are not what they seem.
I found that the suspense aspect of this story was better developed than the romance. Xander and Riley definitely have chemistry but the natural progression to more is a little shallow for me. That said, the rest of the story definitely had me on the edge of my seat because there is no shortfall of freak characters in this story. Interestingly, though, while Riley's situation was resolved, Xander's issues are still up in the air with promises of becoming more complicated before long. I guess this is the part of the plot that ties the series together. I am looking forward to finding out how things work out in the remainder of the series.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

An exiting rollercoaster story
After a traumatic youth, Riley is trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life beside her passion for photography while living on Hawaii. After finding out some truths about her boyfriend she breaks up with him, but he's not willing to let her go and then strange things start happening with Riley in the middle of it, making it look like she is creating drama to get attention.
Xander was drawn to Riley from the moment he caught sight of her and will do anything to make her his and will protect her by any means. It's a good action-packed story with mystery, suspense and steam to keep you entertained for hours. Xander and his brothers also have a side storyline that doesn't conclude in this book but has made me hungry for book 2 and 3 to find out what is going on there.
The narrator did a good job in making all the characters come to life without being distracting with silly voices.

Brilliant!
Twisted Secrets Audio Book by Amy McKinley is the first book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series. This is a brilliant book, a strong start to a series and made for brilliant listening. I found myself completely drawn in to the voice of the narrator. I found myself nervous about what was going to happen to the characters and intrigued by everything going on. I felt the emotions they went through and I was really made to feel like I was on the journey with them
The author has done not only a brilliant job in writing this book but also in choosing the narrator. Everything about it worked and really just made the whole experience better. I loved listening to this and I cannot wait to dive into the second book.
