Summary

Maddock and Bones set off on their first treasure hunting adventure!

1715 - Blown far off course, their treasure-laden ship sinking, a crew of Spanish sailors struggles ashore, only to encounter a horror out of their worst nightmares.

Dane Maddock and Bones Bonebrake have left the Navy SEALs and set out on a search for the legendary lost treasure fleet. The search takes them to Haiti, where they encounter the forces of a madman bent on finding the treasure in order to fund his maniacal experiments and help him seize the power he craves. But not all their foes are human. Mystery, history, and legend meet as Maddock and Bones scour ancient ruins, plumb the depths of the sea, and come face to face with pure evil in their quest for the Treasure of the Dead.

A little gem

I loved this book. I enjoy the Dane Maddock series, otherwise why would I be working my way through the series but to be honest I listen to it for the action and banter, the history and the usual deciphering of the clues leading to the treasure is a little bit above my head. This book was perfect though and I didn't want it to end, well maybe I did just to make sure everybody made it safe, it was touch and go. This might be book nine in the origins series but it is the start of the treasure hunting adventures after leaving the Navy Seal's, There is a little bit of history and as usual it starts with the circumstance that leads to are hero's searching for the treasure but it is the rest of the story that held me captivated, wondering what was going to happen. More like this please.
After leaving the Navy Seal's both Dane and Bones are lost and not doing so well as civilians, until they decided to help an old friend and look for the treasure her cousin was searching for before he died. There adventure takes them to Haiti the land of voodoo, looking for a sunken ship. The problem is Haiti is a poor country without much regulation and somebody wants the treasure to fund his own experiments. The experiment that killed there friends cousin and he is not going to let some ex Navy Seal's get in his way.
I like the narrator and he is the reason I started listening to this series in the first place but now I am hooked.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntary left this review.

Our two former Seals Maddock and Bones are back together again! Now as treasure hunters. Willis joins them in their first search is for a shipwreck lost back in the early 1700’s.
Someone else is after the treasure, following the three . It will lead Bones and Dane into dark dangers in Haiti. Zombies are and Voodoo

Yes, zombies but still believable and recommended.

Good to hear how the treasure hunting business began . As zombies were involved it was a little more difficult to believe than usual but having said that, it was written in a way that you can understand the reasoning behind it. I never read Zombie stories but as this book was in the Maddock & Bones series I took the gamble and I don't regret it at all. There were no garish scenes over run by zombies, it was handled with care, making a well put together book. It makes for a very enjoyable book, I definitely recommend it.

Dane, Bones, Zombies and Treasure

The treasure hunting begins! With Dane & Bones now civilians it’s time for a new season of adventure and this book doesn’t disappoint. Travelling to Haiti they’ll experience an action packed ride facing off zombies and enemy treasure hunters. Definitely one of the best books in the origins series!
