Summary
Kaine Reynolds wants nothing more than solitude. After an unthinkable tragedy destroys his family, he's cut off all ties to his former life, so he can battle his grief the only way he knows how. Alone. So when Piper Campbell knocks on his door, rambling on about being his new neighbor, he slams the door in her face.
But Kaine's gruff demeanor doesn't scare her. She's set on living in Montana and starting over after a terrible divorce. And she wouldn't mind having a fling to chase away the pain of her husband's betrayal. Her handsome, albeit rude, neighbor is the perfect candidate.
Yet what neither of them suspect is that their no-strings affair will result in the surprise of Piper's lifetime - and Kaine's worst fear.

Great listen
Another lovely romance full of twists and must listen for longer moments, better than the last one if that’s possible.

I really enjoyed this book it has been my favorite in this series so far amazing story and I loved the characters, the narrators did a great job my only complaint is the female doing a "male voice " it was not very good but it did not take anything away from the great story

Didn’t like the female narrator.
The story was good - I’m enjoying the whole series. However I found the female narrator quite irritating. She did this funny thing with her “d’s”. When a d was at the end of a word she sort of emphasised it, or put an extra beat in between it and the next syllable. Very distracting. I found my self read in the story more than listening to it. If she’s narrating the next one I won’t download it,

Good book but ruined by the ending
I'm a little bit conflicted when it comes to this book, mostly because the 2 star rating is due to a pet hate of mine when it comes to family conflict resolution rather than anything particularly wrong with the book. Overall the book is pretty decent and the characters are fleshed out enough to give the reader something to like about them even when they're being particularly frustrating. A solid 4 stars if not for the ending, it completely spoiled the book for me.
But, I really really dislike the way some authors "sanitise" (for lack of a better word) family conflicts. They always wrap it all up with a neat little bow at the end because "they're family" so it has to end with everyone holding hands and singing cumbaya. The idea that someone can't possibly be happy in life without forgiving the unforgivable is incredibly naive, even for a romance book. It's difficult to say more without giving too much away, but the level of betrayal from the MC's family is off the charts and only a saint would be able to get over it. And the justification for his mom taking sides as she did is beyond ridiculous, DP really couldn't think of anything better than "maybe she thought Kaine was stronger and would be able to get over it easier!?". Kaine deserved a better ending when it comes to his family.

Another not so great time
Sadly this book and Timid in this series weren't as great as the first book. I loved Piper when i red Tattered, but I found her more annoying this time. Also, the narrators weren't my cup of tea, which is strange as I usually like Teddy Hamilton's performance.

The beginning was great, but..
The novel started out great and had all the markings for an epic "hate to love" lovestory. Unfortunately, somewhere between Kaine's backstory, the family issues and the ending it lost its apeal to me.
Jillian Macie's narration was pretty dreadful.
