About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Danny is a paisano, descended from the original Spanish settlers who arrived in Monterey, California, centuries before. He values friendship above money and possessions, so when he suddenly inherits two houses, Danny is quick to offer shelter to his fellow gentlemen of the road. Together, their love of freedom and scorn for material things draws them into daring and often hilarious adventures. That is, until Danny, tiring of his new responsibilities, suddenly disappears....

A very enjoyable listen. The narration was great and captured the atmosphere of time and place with laconic and compelling simplicity.

Great presentation.

It’s an ok book, good performance by the reader, just the story is repetitive (short of money, drink wine, steal some stuff, drink more wine, get in a fight etc). There are some good bits though and it’s worth a listen, makes you want to live the simple life with friends and wine I guess.

Not the best Steinbeck but worth a listen.
