About this listen

John Telfer reads this exclusive audio adventure, set after the conclusion of Miracle Day, featuring Captain Jack Harkness. Jack Harness is in need of a holiday. He wants to get away from Torchwood, away from the human race - and where better to get completely away from it all than Cotter Paluni's World, a planet surrounded by deadly scarlet lightning and cut off from the entire universe?

But there are some shocks in store for Jack: The "Devil's World" might be completely isolated and inaccessible, but its inhabitants worship Torchwood. And before he can find out why, or how this is even possible, he finds himself arrested for murder. It looks as if someone on the planet knows who Jack is - and they're out to get him.... Written specially for AudioGO by Joseph Lidster.

What did you like best about Torchwood: Red Skies? What did you like least?

The fact that all the characters (except Jack of course) were original was good as well as the great narration. Some of the sound effects were a bit naff (some of the were also a bit piercing).

Would you be willing to try another book from Joseph Lidster? Why or why not?

Yes, because the story was as good as most of the Torchwood story's plus the idea was original.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The bar scene.

Do you think Torchwood: Red Skies needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No I think the the book has a place in the Torchwood (/Dr Who) universe and comes to a natural conclusion that further elaboration would spoil.

Any additional comments?

Overall quite a good audiobook and well narrated - you could be forgiven for not realising it was only one narrator.

I loved this. The story in intresting and Jack is always present. The action is great and you never get bored. Militant for gay rights, as Torchwood always was.

cool!

This is recording was ridiculous. While the narrator, John Telfer, does an excellent job of characterisation, and believable Jack Harkness accent; this is the only redeeming feature.

The picture of Gwen on the cover is misleading - there are barely two references to her in the audio. The story is pitched as set after Miracle Day, but this is irrelevant to the story, it could have been set at any time when Jack was off on his own. The narrative seems to have been written with a strange religious fixation, that adds nothing by way of literary device, and is so over stressed it becomes boring.

If you're a fan of Torchwood there are many other audio's available that are entertaining and well written.
