Summary

The new novel in the Rogue Series from the New York Times bestselling author-and five-time RITA Award winner . . .

Lady Hermione Merryhew, daughter of an impoverished marquess, already has her share of problems. The last thing she needs is an intruder in her bedroom, especially not a fugitive thief. She should scream, but the shabby rascal is a man from her past.

Six years ago, at her first ball, dashing Lieutenant Mark Thayne failed to steal a kiss, but succeeded in stealing a little of her heart. She's older and wiser now. She can't toss him to the wolves. Besides, she wants that kiss.

Now Viscount Faringay, Mark has never forgotten Lady Hermione, but he mustn't involve her in his dangerous life. He's infiltrated the Crimson Band, violent revolutionaries who plan a bloodbath in London, and if he survives the night he will be able to destroy them. Hermione is involved, however, and only he can protect her.

Contains mature themes.

All in all a good adventure

I mostly enjoyed it.

The narrator sounded like she was doing a movie trailer voice-over throughout. It did start to grate after a while.

I really liked the Hermione, the heroine at first, however she did start annoying me as the story progressed.

She was a bit too petulant at times, quite ungrateful at others & thought she could solve all problems, even though she is quite irrational for a good chunk of the book & makes quite a few situations worse.

This is the first book of the series that I've read & she resents & dislikes that the Company of Rogues, who were her late brother's friends for sending letters of condolences & also offers of assistance after his death... that's perfectly reasonable behaviour from his friends & shows how much they cared for her brother... but she thinks that by doing so, they're trying to run her life?!?... like I said irrational!

Also, some of the gang come together to protect her & help Thayne & as a thank you, she's reluctant to invite them (you'll understand when you get to that part) & invites no one, except the Rogue whose house she's staying in.... really bad manners!

Nicholas is the one who both welcomes her into the fold because of her brother arranges for better & safer accommodation for her & her uncle, consoles her, helps to locate the person she's looking for & she can't even extend an invitation to him as a minor token of gratitude.

Thayne is sweet & far too patient with her stupidity at times...
