Summary

New York Times best-selling author Lynsay Sands returns to the Highlands of Scotland in her hottest new historical romance yet!

Highlander Campbell Sinclair is no stranger to battle, so when he sees a lad attacked by bandits, he jumps into the fray. He didn't count on being stabbed. Grateful to the boy for nursing him back to health, Cam offers to accompany Jo safely to his destination. But when he accidentally comes across the lad bathing in the river, Cam discovers that Jo is actually Joan...with the most sinful of curves.

Joan promised her mother that she would deliver a scroll to the clan MacKay. But traveling alone is dangerous, even disguised as a boy. When a Scottish warrior lends his aid, she is more than relieved...until he surprises her with lingering kisses and caresses that prove her disguise hasn't fooled him. As their passion ignites, will the secrets of the scroll force a wedding...and lead to a love she's never known?

Refreshing narration of a light & enjoyable story

Interesting intrigue in a different setting than I'm used to (usually ballrooms of London or Bath), which was very refreshing. It didn't spot the culprit either before the reveal which was fun.

The narrator is WONDERFUL! But then a male Scottish brogue has always "done" it for me, I was slightly disappointed that he didn't read the next book, but I'll look up what else he has narrated for sure!

Really enjoyed this

This story was surprisingly good.

The story had a wonderful pace with nuggets of detail helping to keep the story moving...

The narration was very good, although there were times when the female lead wasn't as strong as it was originally...

In all honesty the only thing I didn't enjoy was the ease of blame from the lead man onto the lead woman, however, it did fit the historical time line...

Loved it

Really enjoyed this romantic Highland tale. The heroine and the Highlander are made for each other and will get their HEA.

Nothing too serious!

A bucket book good to listen to due to the narrator tone, nothing too serious he made the funny bits good, and finally a Scottish person speaking on a scottish book.
Can go back and read this again.

Full of self-pity, no excitement.

The Heroine is boring/tedious and totally predictable. "I am a poor commoner, I will let the Lord lead me to ruin, as I can't expect any better. Oh no I am not totally a commoner, but I can't be a lady" so on and on and on........
The hero is no better, "I will not ever marry again; I can't debauched an inoccent, but she is not the same class as me, oh no she is not what I thought, so I must marry her"
The backup characters are no better, in fact it comes across as a farce.
Don't waste your money, there is nothing cohesive about this story.
