About this listen
Titus Groan has fled the rambling, ruined and ruinous castle of Gormenghast, desperate for a view of the world beyond. But he wasn’t prepared for this! Satellites, death-rays, sinister policemen and underworld outcasts live in a nightmarish contemporary city that feels like something by Wells, Burroughs or Philip K. Dick. Threatened and lost, he begins to miss the home he left; but surely he won’t be tempted back?

In the third and final installment of the Gormenghast series, Titus makes good on his desire to flee his home and see the world outside of the castle walls. Veteran actor Rubert Degas uses his full arsenal of vocal talents to bring to life this fantasy classic. With an intense delivery, Degas takes listeners away from Gormenghast to the dangers of the outside, where Titus finds evil policemen, seedy outcasts, and enough horrendous encounters to make him question whether he should have ever left home at all.

the least entertaining of the Gormenghast books
Narrated really well but this was my least favourite of the series. Low on storyline and constructed poorly it had me waiting for when it would really get going right to the end

Wow !!!
A truly great writer and a fabulous trilogy, there is a fourth book written by Peake’s wife and a short story called Boy in Darkness if anyone wants more

Annoying voices
A great and unusual story let down by some very annoying and occasionally difficult to understand voices put on unnecessarily by the narrator.
