Summary
A side-splitting and heartbreaking tale, now a major Hollywood movie starring Tina Fey, Connie Britton, and Jason Bateman.
Poor Judd Foxman returns home early to find his wife in bed with his boss - in the act. He now faces the twin threats of both divorce and unemployment. His misery is compounded further with the sudden death of his father.

yes, this book for me contains the prefect balance between understanding the complecities of loss through the medium of humor
What was one of the most memorable moments of This Is Where I Leave You?
when judd find the photo of his mother that had been so well cared for by his father and he appricated the depth of love felt between them both

i like the scene where the brothers cuase chaos at the synagogue

this book felt like an accurate account of a modern day family with a sprinkling of poetic licence for that little add of humourous favouring

Interesting story line, well enough built characters, but takes too long to captivate listener. Flat reading !

Hilarious
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I have already recommended 'This is Where I Leave You' to many of my friends as I found it to be extremely funny and well written.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the interaction between the family members.
Which character – as performed by Ramon de Ocampo – was your favourite?
I couldn't fault Ramon de Ocampo's depiction of any of the characters. He was the perfect narrator.

This book had me howling with laughter.

It isn't often I say this, but I will probably listen to this book again. I am sure it will make me laugh just as much as it did at my first listen.

Excellent
Brilliant story and narrator. Wit combined with sadness and great characters. Explicit with plenty of bad language so if that's not your thing. think twice. But you'll be missing out

One Dimensional and Dull
The premise of the story sounded interesting; a Jewish wake, a seven day shiva that brings family and friends together to reminisce. I prefer short reviews with little detail that say whether the listener liked or disliked the story; I do not like too much detail because I fear that might spoil the listening for me if I choose to listen to the book however giving any details in this review cannot spoil this story!
The story begins with the protagonist's detailed description about his soon to be ex-wife having sex with his boss (who is a sexual relationship advisor on the radio).
Later during the shiva, the protagonist remembers he had sex with his sister-in-law before she got married to his brother. Another brother, or it could have been the same one (I had lost interest) was overheard having sex with his wife.
We are then treated to the sexual appetite of his mother, who we are told had previously enjoyed the attentions of his father (the deceased) and was now responding to the covert attentions of a widower who had called to pay his respects. The implication being they would be having an intimate relationship as soon as the shiva was over.
The story, that I listened to, was one dimensional and so, obviously, boring.
