Three books in one

I enjoyed these three very different stories. Not sure why the author put them together though as each is very different in characters as well as story, from a medium in Book one, Book two is a police detective and Book three is a drive instructor with the habit of breaking the law.
Book one Every little lie is actually book four in the Calamity James series.
I did enjoy this book but with all the town history and the different versions it was a little hard to keep track of who everybody was. It's not my favourite in the series but is still worth a listen, especially as you learn more of why everybody in town hates Calamity or blames her. The characters, especially the ghosts continue to entertain and either help or hinder the investigations. The book continues on from the last book with Cal's sister not talking to her after the big secret has been relieved, although you don't need to have read the previous book to follow along as the author does a good job of bringing you up to date . The mystery was good (if a little complicated) and I had sort of guessed who was behind it, mainly because the character kept popping up and was never suspected. I hope there is another book in the series.
With her sister not talking to her the last thing Cal needs is to investigate a case that is contacted to the founding fathers of the town. With each family heirloom that is stolen from the museum an attack on one of the ancestors remaining family members also accrues and as Cal's own family had a part to play in the town she and her sister could also be a target. Can she stop the next attack? And find the killer? Even if it means learning more about her own family history? And can she trust the town's ghost to help her where her sister won't?

Book Two In an instant (the first chapter is repeated twice so could have done with some editing but as it goes straight onto chapter two you don't miss anything.)
This book is very different to the rest of the books and actually features a police detective as she and her partner works a multiple missing children cases. It is also the only book to contain missing children. I enjoyed this book the most, even if I spent most of it hoping for a happy ending for all involved. The story is told by two characters most of the time,, the policewoman involved in the investigation and the kidnapper. This worked well for the story giving you an insight of both points of view an told you what was happening. It also opens your eyes to what a scary world we live and how it can all change in an instant.
Mia is disappointed to cut her mother daughter time short but when she learns a young girl has gone missing, she knows she will not stop until she is found one way or another. Her fears raise when they make a connection between several other children who have gone missing in the same way. What does that spell for the children? By going right back to the very first disappearance, the case the police have already given up on, they hope to learn something to help them in the current case. Can they find not only the missing child from there case but the others too? Or will it get to personal in more ways than one?

Book three The girl in the tide.
This was my least favourite book and to be honest I didn't like the main character at first but she eventually grow on me the more we learned about her and her dysfunctional family and friends. There is no mystery or missing girls with this story and it is more a treasure hunt than anything else. There is a murder but Leigh is to busy looking for pirate treasure, stealing boats, conning people and getting in trouble to investigate. The murder does get solved and I did enjoy it in the end but not what I was expecting after listening to the previous books.
Leigh is strapped for money and with a kid brother depending on her, she will do anything to get more. Even working for a man who is currently sitting jail for murder a man who has already let her down badly. Like her absentee mother Leigh loves nothing better (except her brother) than diving for buried or lost treasure. So when she receives a phone with a clue to a new find she can't help herself. Talking her best friend, a man who needs to pay back some dangerous men, into helping her she sneaks out in the middle of the night. Can she find the treasure? The problem is somebody knows she is hunting for it and will stop at nothing to make sure they get there hands on it, even murder.
The author used two narrator's so you had no problems switching between the stories and both were very good.
