Summary

A troubled past.

A dying guardian.

The fate of a fantasy realm rests in the hands of a mortal girl.

Laura used to believe in fairy tales and true love. Not after her mom took her own life; the bitter end to a once promising romance. But the arrival of a mysterious guardian proves the fairy tale world does exists, and it needs her help to stop the unholy forces that seek to destroy it. As Laura journeys to find the way home across strange kingdoms of mechanical soldiers, a mad king, a fairy tale prince and more, she soon learns of the mysterious connections between her and the fantasy realm. To survive it, she must face her deepest fears and secrets she never wants to unveil.

The Torn Fairy is a YA action/adventure fantasy/romance, a romantic Alice in Wonderland coupled with the deep themes of A Monster Calls. Fans of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms will also fall in love with the parallel world of Illiros and its magic.

A good story overall

I did thoroughly enjoy this story for the most part, although I found the ending a little odd. All in all though a very good story with a beautiful romance. The setting was enchanting and rich as the journeyed through the world trying to put it back together.

What a Surprise!

I am floored! I didn't expect to enjoy this so much! The story was great and so was the narration. I wasn't familiar with Ivy's work, but she is fantastic. This didn't feel like eight hours. The character development was spot on and fantastic.

A Good Fairy Tale Style Story

There are some things that could have been clearer but I liked the creativity that the author exhibits. Laura is a frustrating character in some instances but I liked her well enough. I would have liked to feel the chemistry between our characters a little more throughout the entire story instead of just at the end. I enjoyed it and it was a good fairy tale style story. The ending was good, the beginning needed some work.

The narration was great and the narrator represented the characters and was a good fit gor the book. The narrators voice was a good fit the age range of a YA character. I only give 4 stars for narration because the editing needed to be better, there were many repeated lines.

What an adventure!

This was like falling into a whirl wind of magic and adventure. Mal and Laura held me captive from the beginning. A story like no other. It was great to watch Laura grow and overcome obstacles.

Fairytale Adventure

This is definitely a fairytale adventure! But for some reason, I had difficulty getting into this book. I enjoyed her other writings immensely. Narration was fine. 🎧 AudiobookObsession

The Torn Fairy

A very good YA book that I can share with the younger ones in the family that enjoys listening to "clean" romance.

Standalone Story

Standalone Story.

When Laura is pulled into an alternate world by a real prince, she cannot believe that she isn't dreaming. Speaking with a woman in a mirror tops the cake in her fantastical day, that is until her prince leaves her with the mirror lady. The woman tells her that Laura is the only one who has the ability to save the kingdom, just before empty suits of armor attack. The armor wraiths smash the mirror and Laura cannot stay to protect her. After the prince realizes their loss to the army of empty soldiers, the two are captured. Can they survive captivity and still manage to save the kingdom?

If you're looking for a fantastic tale of parallel universes and magical knights, this is the book for you.

Tragic story-too strong for happy ending fairytale

I like Mira's writing a lot, but this time I think the story is really really strong and tragic.
The themes explored here, specially dealing with guilt and feeling undeserved, are very intense. Even though I think the narrator could put even more feeling in those dramatic parts.
The happy ending and all the moments were she is suppose to conquer her feelings don't really feel convincing to me, so I was left with a depressing taste during the story. I would not advise this for the faint of hearts but it is still a very well written story and the surprise end twists made it worth for me. I don't want to be spoiler, so I can't say more. You will have to read/listen for yourself if you are strong enough.
