About this listen

Charlie and Josh's interests were the same as most other teenagers: drinking, parties, and girls. That was until the day they discovered the Time Bubble.

It starts as a bit of fun, jumping a few seconds into the future. Soon things take a more serious turn as the leaps in time increase in duration. When a teenage girl goes missing, and the police become involved, suspicion falls on Charlie. How can he explain where she is? Will anyone believe him?

Set in a small market town in Southern England in the early 21st century, this light-hearted time travel novel has plenty to delight listeners of all ages.

This story is the first part of a series which continues with Global Cooling, Man out of Time, and Splinters in Time. A spin-off series, Second Chances, is also available.

Great story but flat narration

Loved the story and the twist at the end. But the narrator was oh so flat. Clear and understandable but sounded like someone just reading a script with no emotion. It didn’t detract from the book and I will be getting the next in the series.

Enjoyable time travel tale

Love a good time travel tale and this was light hearted and fun. I was entertained and enjoyed the story and narration. Will be straight on to the next in the series

Let down by narrator

The story is slow to start and I was tempted a few times to give up as the narration was terrible. It would have had more feeling and passion if Siri had recorded the book. There were even 2 mistakes not re-recorded. Emphasis in the wrong place, boringly read, and overall just a very bad reader. I persevered and the story wasn’t bad in the end. I will try the next book in the series but only because its not the same narrator.

Disapointing

Bad reading ruins what might have been a better listen.

this was disappointing - or maybe I've been mis-led by earlier outstanding narrators.

Good idea but rushed ending

I’ve listened to lots of time travel books so this was always going to be a little different.

The story itself was good and I enjoyed it. The narrative wasn’t fantastic but he told the story well enough to get you invested which in my opinion is all you need.

My issue was the ending seemed a little rushed. Not that it was a bad ending but for me, it fell a little flat.

That said, I did enjoy it and I’m ready for book 2 👍

A Great Start

Really enjoyed the story and already started on book 2 - got to agree with some reviews about the narration, but didn't detract from the story. No need to announce the end of every chapter too, but maybe that's a personal thing.

I thought the ending was great and definitely made you think a bit.

Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Talk about originality

interesting story quite original but seemingly made for teenagers,or those of us who still think we are .Don't expect too much about time travelling ,it's not very scientific vast jumps into the future the epilogue was good. quite light reading but I liked it , it was different

Entertaining story - and the narration is fine

Don't be discouraged by the negative comments about the narration. Sure, there are problems, and for this blame whoever it was who edited the recording. The repeated sentence near the beginning has been highlighted. For some reason Chapter 8 ends with the words 'End of Chapter 7' and in the next breath 'Chapter 9'. There is a further repeated sentence towards the end (without the 'Tut' by the narrator). This shouldn't put you off, because this is a decent and entertaining story and reasonably well read.

If I am to criticise the story, the ending isn't hugely satisfactory. No major spoilers here, but it just seemed that the author didn't want to settle for the usual happy ending with all loose ends tied up and decided to concentrate on just one of the characters who made a silly decision and forget about the rest. That was a shame, because Jason Ayres made a good effort in getting the reader to care about the various protagonists - so it was frustrating to leave us largely hanging about how things eventually turned out for them.

If you enjoy time travel books (and I do, even if the science is abject nonsense and the plot is full of illogical assumptions), then give this a go.

Really enjoyable and though provoking story

A really enjoyable and interesting story. Easy listening - I got used to the narrator and ran with it!
A bit teenagy but I can still enjoy that genre, even though I’m well past that stage!
Looking forward to the next book.
