Summary

An escapist summer novel from Sunday Times bestseller Jenny Colgan. Fall in love with a new cast of characters and get swept away in a breath-taking romance you'll want to listen to again and again . . .

'A glorious, breathtaking, tender romance. I loved every moment of the ride' SOPHIE KINSELLA

'[A] blast of feelgood fiction [...] it makes me want to head for the Highlands' THE TIMES
___________________________________

Born into a family of successful pilots, Morag is used to flying high. But when a tragic accident above the clouds grounds her, could the future she'd always imagined be suddenly out of reach?

When she receives a call telling her that her beloved grandfather has been taken ill, Morag leaves her fast-paced life in London to return home to the tranquil Scottish Highlands. With her grandfather out of action, Morag has no choice but to take over flying the local route in his rickety old plane, ferrying locals across the beautiful islands of the archipelago.

But as the weather takes a dramatic turn, Morag is forced to crash-land on a remote island and suddenly finds herself far from civilisation and all alone. Then she discovers Gregor, the gruff and reclusive ornithologist taking care of the island for the season. Though the pair don't see eye to eye, Morag is forced to seek shelter at his cabin and it seems the pair are stuck together until help arrives. However long that may be . . .

As she awaits rescue, might Morag discover that a remote Scottish island, cut off from real-life, is exactly the place she needs to be?

Absolutely OK

This wasn't my favourite Jenny Colgan book, feel like something was lacking in the proof reading. Everything was 'absolutely' something and the main character seems to enjoy everything as 'absolutely her best meal of her life' which annoyed me but it ticked along nicely enough and I enjoyed the description of the scenery

Literally uplifting!

I love Eilidh’s reading of this Jenny Colgan book. I love that Jenny researches her stories so that you’re swept along with the narrative. Read and enjoy. I think it would be make a good tv series!!

I loved it

I love all of Jenny Colgan’s books and this is no exception. I couldn’t put it down.
The narrator was brilliant as well. I’m really sad it’s over.

Different Story

I enjoyed this story from Jenny, I always look forward to publication day. This story was a bit different. It was slow to build, had a more gentle flavour, but Jenny still gave us characters with nuance and bite. Not forgetting the chickens, goat, and grumpy ornithologist all amongst the land and skies of beautiful North East Scotland.
Lovely narrative as always from Eilidh.

Not for this Scot …

Just a nice wee story as you’d expect from JC and it was immaculately narrated. I am sure for most, the narrator’s accent and cadence will be lovely but for a Scot living in the West Highlands it was just grating … wish I’d read the book instead of listened.

Beautiful, escapist and romantic

A little slow to get started and then I really did get into this story in a way that I seem to do rarely nowadays.
I loved that it was covering a topic or topics that aren't often covered in this romance genre.

So, scenic walks, a plane with a view, a bit of escapist excitement and interesting insights into life on a remote Scottish island. What more could you ask for? It gets my vote for being one of the best Jenny Colgan books ever.

Life

Just when you think you know what path you’re on - another presents itself. Captivating story.

Atmospheric location but not one of her best

Enjoyed the situation, the nicely evoked locations and some of the characters. However, as mentioned elsewhere, there is overuse of certain words which gets absolutely irritating.

Just okay

I have loved all Jenny’s books but this one I feel fell a little short . It was padded out by a lot of description. Never really got a feel for the characters like I usually do with Jenny’s books .

Could do better

Whilst I enjoyed it this book has such a weak storyline & shallow depth it is by far her worst work so faIt needed a good editor to drive several wandering passages & add new narrative into what could have been a good story
