Summary

After the critically acclaimed epic fantasy The Wolf comes The Spider, book two in Leo Carew's Under the Northern Sky series.

A battle has been won, but the war still wages on....

Roper, the Black Lord of the northern people, may have vanquished the Suthern army at the Battle of Harstathur. But the greatest threat to his people lies in the hands of more shadowy forces.

In the south, the disgraced Bellamus bides his time. Learning that the young Lord Roper is planning to invade the southern lands, Bellamus conspires with his Queen to unleash a weapon so deadly it could wipe out Roper's people altogether.

And at a time when Roper needs his friends more than ever, treachery from within puts the lives of those he loves in mortal danger....

a masterpiece

Gripping, heartbreaking and incredibly well paced. Carew makes you fall in love with his characters and then breaks your heart, with superb storytelling throughout. Matt Addis's performance throughout the series is fantastic and really brings characters to life. Well done all round, a fantastic book I'll think of for years to come.

Great follow on

This was written in the same style as the 1st. Excellent story, great narration and an end worth waiting for.

It’s been left open for the 3 rd book which I am looking forward too.

Great story with great characters

The audiobook was good but I would suggest that if the character that is narrated is shouting then the narrator should just shout.

Fitting continuation of an outstanding series

I was as addicted to this audiobook as to 'The Wolf' and urge anyone to buy this intelligent, enthralling, highly original series.

I felt there were a few minor missteps in the storytelling - missed opportunities, mainly. But nothing detracted from the whole. It absolutely rips you along with it, and leaves you wanting more.

The performance is outstanding. One of the best readers I've heard and embodies the book's atmosphere perfectly.

Superb...

The author writes in a way that you are supporting the two main protagonists. expertly done considering they are on opposing sides.

The narrator could read the phone directory and make it exciting.

What a combination :)
