About this listen

A wedding in Spain. The most infuriating man. Three days to convince your family you're actually in love. . .

Catalina Martín desperately needs a date to her sister's wedding. Especially when her little white lie about her American boyfriend has spiralled out of control. Now everyone she knows – including her ex-boyfriend and his fiancée – will be there.

She only has four weeks to find someone willing to cross the Atlantic for her and aid in her deception. NYC to Spain is no short flight and her family won't be easy to fool. . . But even then, when Aaron Blackford – the 6'4", blue-eyed pain in the arse – offers to step in, she's not tempted even for a second. Never has there been a more aggravating, blood-boiling and insufferable man.

But Catalina is desperate and as the wedding gets closer the more desirable an option Aaron Blackford becomes. . .

The Spanish Love Deception is an enemies-to-lovers, fake-dating romance. Perfect for those looking for a steamy slow-burn with the promise of a sweet happy-ever-after.

The story was fine, very predictable but I really enjoy these kind of books. So I can’t complaint about that - it was a nice story which ticked many boxes for me…
The cringe/annoying moments had to do with the narrator trying to imitate a Spanish accent and missing completely. Very off putting for a native Spanish speaker.

Annoying inaccurate accents

I finally gave in and read this highly hyped book, and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The classic tropes of the romance genre were there: fake dating, forced proximity, enemies to lovers. My main problem with this story was that it was just so long winded - talk about a slow burn! By the time the lovers finally got it on, I was heartily bored with them and couldn't get invested in their relationship.

Each of the main characters irritated me at times. Catalina, for being a bit of a doormat and letting people walk all over her (both at work and in Spain), and Aaron for failing to stand up to blatant sexual harassment that happened right under his nose in a work meeting.

I know miscommunication is another classic trope, but these two people could have saved each other, and us, a lot of time by having a grown-up discussion about their feelings for each other. I think it's clear that I'm not a fan of this book.

Disappointing

Im only on chapter 5 and im about to throw away my phone out the window, unable to listen to any more of the aaron narration voice by the voice actor. Should have just kept her normal voice 😒😩
Not giving up on this completely but most likely gonna read it instead.

An entertaining and spicy read. The narrator is not always great with the male character voice but still good entertainment.

Nice chick flick

The narrators voice when she’s doing aaron’s parts are terrible. The story is not bad.

This book 😍 I had been saving it on my TBR shelf for a while because I had a feeling it was going to be worth it, and oh boy was it ever!

Aaron Blackford, the perfect grump. He has made his way onto the list of top Book Boyfriends for sure 😍 His attention to detail where it comes to Lina, his heart, gosh I just wanted to give him a hug so many times! He freaking learned Spanish so he’d make a good impression 🥹 Such a cinnamon roll 😍

Lina is such a cheerful, strong, brave character, and Aaron just compliments her so well. The humour, the banter, the swoon…. I LOVED IT ALL 😍

If you haven’t read this yet, you need to add it to your TBR list right now!!

A little predictable, but enjoyable nevertheless. Great narrator who makes you feel the ups and downs and a feel good storyline.

I really like the story overall, but the narrator of this perticulqr recording had a problem when doing the male voice. It sounds a little robotic. I have listened to this book with another narrator, and she did a way better job. But again overall a pretty good experience.

Not the best narrator…

Just what I needed! This was my first romance and needed something as I couldn't find my other books I hadn't finished.

Perfect!
