About this listen

This unique and fundamentally liberating book shows us that examining our attitudes toward money - earning it, spending it, and giving it away - can offer surprising insight into our lives, our values, and the essence of prosperity.

Lynne Twist, a global activist and fundraiser, has raised more than $150 million for charitable causes. Through personal stories and practical advice, she demonstrates how we can replace feelings of scarcity, guilt, and burden with experiences of sufficiency, freedom, and purpose. In this Nautilus Award-winning book, Twist shares from her own life, a journey illuminated by remarkable encounters with the richest and poorest, from the famous (Mother Teresa and the Dalai Lama) to the anonymous but unforgettable heroes of everyday life.

I'm not sure why The author wasn't chosen to narrate this title as she is an excellent speaker. The chosen narrator however over-annunciates each word splitting each syllable so that they often sound like separate words. The result is very robotic and clunky. I found it quite difficult to listen to and was very, very disappointed. I like the content however. But I would have got more out of this book had it been better narrated.

Great book - terrible narration

An enlightening and spiritual insight into what money means, how to have a healthy relationship with it and use money as an instrument to express your truest values. Must read for anyone wanting to establish a better relationship with money.

Loved the flow and energy of the book! Moving and motivating, informative and inspirational. Gives a very balanced view of how money is and has been viewed and used by many in both negative and positive ways with a strong emphasis in the intention behind its use or pledge and the empowerment of communities to work together under a joint purpose. This really spoke to my heart, gut and inner knowing. I feel that anyone having read or listened to this book will have, at some point, agreed with the author that there is another way, another way of thinking and behaving around money and its uses.

Inspiring, thought provoking and motivational

I enjoyed the content of the book, but the narration was awful. It felt like I was being told off by a very prim primary school teacher. Plus some odd pronunciation, for instance I've never heard the word 'suggest' pronounced 'sugg-jest' before, which it was, several times. Picky maybe, but it was really distracting.

Interesting book, terrible narration

Lynne manages to tell her very personal story of money and fundraising, and through this changes the predominant mindset of scarcity and extraction into abundance and regeneration

Transformative framing of money

Creates a different mindset to money. It talks about having a sufficient amount and doing good with it for our fellow humans.
