About this listen
It’s not easy being the youngest of seven sons in a family of notorious sorcerers, especially for Ayden Dracre. In a world where sorcerers practice only dark magic and wizards practice only light magic, Ayden has a problem: He is very bad at being bad. Try as he might, all of his spells to cause mayhem go awry. When he finds out that his family has had enough of his mistakes, he decides to take destiny into his own hands.
He has one chance to prove to his family that he is worthy of the sorcerer name or he will find himself on the unfortunate end of his mother’s wrath; he must defeat the greatest wizard of all the lands. There are only two problems: He doesn’t know how to fight with magic, and he doesn’t want to hurt anyone. If he’s going to survive this quest, he will have to rely on the most unlikely allies.
Follow Ayden and his friends on three exciting, magic-filled adventures. If you love dragons, magic, adventure, and humor, check out this three-book bundle! Great for the whole family!
©2018 Rain Oxford (P)2018 Rain OxfordTwo things that struck as off with the stories...the author should probably keep modern politics out of the story (why risk potentially alienating half of your audience just for a laugh?), and mix things up a little. Each story seems to be a slow buildup of about 20 chapters, ending with a climax that is just over too soon. The stories just seem to deserve more of an epic conclusion, considering all the time the writer and audience have invested in them.
The narration is quite good, but I had the feeling that the main character just sounded a little bit older than I imagined he should have. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the voices and excitement brought by the narrator.
I was given a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an unbiased review,
The stories are good enough that I have sought out other stories by the same author.
Great wizard/sorcerer quest adventure

Of all her series this is my 3rd favorite. Guardian and Casters of Syndral being respectively nr 1 and 2.
I’m not a big fan of the narrator but it works.
The story itself is amazing. Quickly going to start on the next volume.
I personally love all the jabs to classic and modern fantasy literature.
I’ve laughed a lot. And I kept telling my husband about parts I read. I’m not going to say anything about the story itself. For that you’ll have to read it yourself.
I do suggest if you haven’t read anything else from her and you’re like me, meaning you like to read it in order, I suggest you look up the reading order for all her books. All the series can be read apart from one another, but when you do read them in order you’ll understand certain things better.
3rd time listening through this.

I was really pleased that I could tell which character was speaking by the change in the narrator's voice. It really helped as I could listen without having to work out who was who, it just flowed.
Now that I've finished I'm really going to miss these guys...can't wait to find out what happens next.
Really enjoyed both the story and narrator
