About this listen
Many people feel a growing disenchantment with modern life; that something fundamental is missing or ‘wrong’. Our increased material wealth is making us less happy, not more. Mental health issues are on the rise, and we face an environmental crisis. Somehow, we have lost our way. People long for a deeper sense of connection, a greater purpose, and a more sustainable and natural way of living. Yet people are often unsure as to what they can do to find this. If you are ready, the practice of shamanism holds many answers.
In ‘The Shamanic Journey’, shamanic practitioner, teacher and psychotherapist, Paul Francis, offers a shamanic apprenticeship for our times. By building upon the work of Michael Harner, author of 1980’s classic ‘The Way of the Shaman’, Francis has created a practical, ethical and experiential guide. It is a ground-breaking and stand-out book on shamanism, written for both complete beginners and for anyone already with experience. Both practical and deeply thought-provoking, this book examines how to make shamanic practice relevant and central to our modern-day lives.
Well researched, and yet written in an accessible and conversational style, the book explores how, as we turned away from hunter-gathering, and with the rise of agriculture, domestication and ‘civilisation’, we largely lost our connection with shamanism. This profoundly changed us, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually, and radically altered the environment around us. Facing these challenges, the book discusses how we can reclaim shamanism and make it relevant to the times in which we now live, and how doing this may be crucial to our very survival and return to sanity.

This book is incredible. It is possibly the most important book I have ever read. It is simultaneously practical and erudite. Paul Francis is a gem. What he teaches in this book (Therapeutic Shamanism) has so much to offer individuals in terms of healing and in offering a spiritual path which is practical, liveable, grounded, embodied, and inclusive of all aspects of what it means to be a human (unlike most spiritual paths, which are (as Paul discusses) overly focused on "Spirit", but lacking "Soul", and also lacking means of working with the modern psyche).
In addition to helping the individual, Therapeutic Shamanism also has so much to offer society and the wider world. As we reconnect to nature - our own innate nature, and a reconnection to the wider natural world - we can live in greater harmony with it, and create a more ecological sustainable, fair, interconnected compassionate world.
After 10 years of exploring spirituality, healing, and psychotherapy, Therapeutic Shamanism finally feels like an approach which is a return home, a return to what we are humans are meant to be, and how we are meant to live - in harmony with ourselves, with each other, and with the other-than-human.
A lifechanging book, with the best narrator ever

The author is so honestly raw blunt!
In truth, at the beginnings time a legend tells a very beautiful story.
We had a direct connection with the creative source.
We only spoke the truth, and we didn’t possess mind nor ego.
It is said that that was a present from the Devil.
Mind in Portuguese means mente, mind and also has a double meaning in Portuguese which is lies.
A mind that always lies and doesn’t give us peace due to the constant chatter.
Paul Francis remitted me to this innocent time, where we were all pure, true, honest, good intended, innocent, love.
Where we actually cared for each other.
Shamans from all over the globe have similar practices, even if they are thousands miles apart.
If you are serious about serving and curing yourself, and the community, this is the best initiation tool to have and listen to, over and over again!
THE MOST POWERFUL AND BEAUTIFUL CURE
