Summary
An overworked book publicist with a perfectly planned future hits a snag when she falls in love with her temporary roommate…only to discover he lives seven years in the past, in this witty and wise novel from the bestselling author of The Dead Romantics.
Sometimes, the worst day of your life happens, and you have to figure out how to live after it.
Six months ago, Clementine West had the worst day of her life. So, she came up with a plan to keep her heart safe: stay busy, work hard, take no risks. And it’s been working.
That is until one day she finds a strange man standing in her kitchen. A man with kind eyes, a crooked smile, and a recipe for the perfect lemon meringue pie. The kind of man that, before everything, she could have fallen for...
He’s perfect but for one thing: he lives in the past. Seven years ago, to be exact.
This should be impossible, but Clementine used to love impossible things. And maybe, just maybe, she will again.
After all, love is never a matter of time – but a matter of timing.

The story I didn’t know I needed
When this book was brought up at book club I’ll admit I felt a bit meh reading the description.
Books had become a distraction to the grief of loved ones recently lost. I stayed away from books that worked with grief because if I couldn’t explain the pain I felt to even myself how should I expect a person I never met to do it. But she did. How even months later when you start to feel okay then suddenly a chair or random item can feel like a blow to the chest. Or on even a good day, a memory suddenly almost makes you feel guilty for having fun in a world where said loved one doesn’t exist.
But she found a way to embody that- not even just in this book but also in Dead Romantics. It feels a bit like being seen in a way mourners may not know they needed. I’m thankful to have found someone whose books I enjoy and will continue to follow.

More than a love story
I kind of didn’t want to read this book because the premise feel like gimmick, however as the story rolled through, the time travelling apartment was much more of a tool to understand grief and how we change over time. I almost wanted more apartment magic than we got. A really lovely story and well worth reading

A magical romance
I honestly didn't really know what this book was about and I've loved every minute of it.

Absolutely beautiful
This book felt like a warm hug on a cold and rainy day; it is the epitome of soft love. I loved that it wasn’t just a love story, and that it was also a story about finding yourself, dealing with grief, and understanding that humans are constantly evolving.
The concept of a magical apartment really brought everything together and made the book and the story hit so much harder.
The audiobook narration was also incredible. Single narration style audiobooks are not my favourite, but I’m in awe of the narrator’s talent and the emotion she portrayed.

Predictable and grating
A dull and predictable romance with characters so thin they’d blow away like a puff of smoke. Would have been great if the narrator could have been bothered to learn how to pronounce Iwan correctly

Umm not sure
It had an interesting premise, but I sadly didn't gel with the story. I will still try more Ashley Poston's boos in the future.

Not worth it.
It's just a run of the mill romcom nothing particularly special. I gave it a low score because everything just happens too smoothly. The female lead, wraps her head around the 7 year difference rather quickly and the two leads get along too well too quickly, which is surprising because she went from assuming he was a murderer to "I want to stay with him" in the span of a conversation. The male lead has no qualms about her initial reaction to him and immediately gives her the nickname lemon and uses it constantly... All romcoms are pretty much predictable but this was so formulaic and forced I was rolling my eyes.
I enjoyed her other book dead romantics and that was as predictable as they come but it was charming and the characters were convincing and at times funny and cute. This book had none of that.
