About this listen
Unravel the threads of clandestine love and political intrigue in this captivating tale, where entangled hearts and hidden agendas collide, weaving a thrilling dance of romance and deception in the shadowy corridors of power.
In this tantalizing lesbian romantic thriller, Sarah Lou Rogers, a disgraced former Secret Service Agent, has sworn off love, finding refuge in fleeting, no-strings-attached encounters after a perilous affair left her life in shambles.
Miranda, known as the ‘Web Spinner of Washington, D.C.,’ is the unseen hand guiding her husband, ultra-conservative Senator Mitchell Reichert, to the threshold of the White House. Despite her sham marriage and a life filled with superficial pleasures, she can’t shake off the memory of one passionate afternoon with Sarah, an encounter she desperately tries to convince herself was just a fling. However, the tables turn when Mitchell is assassinated, and Miranda is named the prime suspect.
Now, on the run, she and Sarah find shelter in the serene and rugged beauty of Sarah’s childhood home, set deep in the mountains of Appalachian Kentucky. As they hide away in the serene landscapes, the echoes of their complicated pasts resurface, and the embers of their tryst catch flame.
In this tranquil mountain town, long-buried secrets are unearthed, and smoldering desires are ignited. As the shadows of their pasts intertwine, will Sarah and Miranda be able to explore their budding romance, or will the looming threats snuff out the sparks of their newfound connection and even their lives?

Almost Perfect... but you should still read it
The characters have such chemistry together. The story is thrilling but also fun at times with the back and forth between the women and on all those things alone I would recommend to check it out BUT... the only thing holding it back from being perfect is the moment they sleep together doesn't hold up especially with how much build up there was. I don't mind slow burners as I feel that's how you build characters to the best of their potential but it was a miss in this case. I would still recommend

The Senator's Widow
This exciting story sounds like I imagine the reading of a screen play for a super-hero movie - and it would make a great movie too. I can't fault the writing, editing or the production, all of which are great, BUT, please somebody stop Abby Craden from trying to speak in any accent other than standard American English. AC just cannot do accents and I wish Tantor Audio, or whoever, would stop inflicting her on us because her lack of skill with regard to accents ruins a large number of really good books.
Personally, I would read most of the books AC narrates in preference to listening if I could but unfortunately I cannot see well enough. Consequently I am fed up with AC for wrecking so many audiobooks I would otherwise have really enjoyed.

triumph in adversity
Dark political forces are the backdrop to a great thriller and romance. Most appropriate for current times.

Corruption and survival
loved the storyline, but felt quite sad at times as it truly reflects American politics as it stands today. Loved the ending.

Story
Loved the narration. Loved the story. Not rushed. A thriller and a love story which gave one of the MCs time to come to her sapphic senses. Well done.
