Summary

The acclaimed Science of Discworld centred on an original Pratchett story about the Wizards of Discworld. In it they accidentally witnessed the creation and evolution of our universe, a plot which was interleaved with a Cohen & Stewart non-fiction narrative about Big Science. In The Science of Discworld II our authors join forces again to see just what happens when the wizards meddle with history in a battle against the elves for the future of humanity on Earth. London is replaced by a dozy Neanderthal village.

The Renaissance is given a push. The role of fat women in art is developed. And one very famous playwright gets born and writes The Play. Weaving together a fast-paced Discworld novelette with cutting-edge scientific commentary on the evolution and development of the human mind, culture, language, art, and science, this is a book in which 'the hard science is as gripping as the fiction'. An absolutely fantastic thought provoking irreverent look at the animal that is Pan Narran. Educational and hilarious at the same time.

sequel better then first book

Excellent got even better! I have listened to book I for curiosity and I fell in love with it. This second book is even better. It is more up to date and address issues that are going on in the current world.
If you love Discworld and you have "a little" scientist in you you will love all characters. Not sure about Fairy folk. I prefer them in "Tolkien like" form but this is completely different book.
Amazing performance from Michael Fenton Stevens and Stephen Briggs. I got completely immersed into the story and I felt like there are at least five more narrators in the book. I look forward to listening to book III.
This should be on reading list in school. I am sure kids would learn more if all science is presented like this.

Big Science and Fantasy hold hands

A warm and friendly book that has fun along the way and doesn't take its self too seriously. The Big Science bit ambles along with a nudge and a wink, the Fantasy side adds a respectful nod and gets on with what makes it sell millions. But bear in mind that this is not a DiscWorld book.

TSoD Pt 1 was a bit of a good natured panel debate between two opposing camps. Pt 2 is an out and out collusion but absolutely none the worse and all for the better for that.
