About this listen

The jawdropping and twisty new thriller from the author of The Perfect Father.

Four pregnant women. Three nights of pampering at an exclusive yoga retreat. One too many deadly secrets....

On a remote farm in the deepest Devonshire countryside, four pregnant women arrive at an exclusive yoga retreat for a five-star weekend of prenatal pampering. The location is idyllic.

Their host, Selina, is eager to teach them all she knows about pregnancy and motherhood. But, like Selina, each of the women has a secret.

And secrets can be deadly....

Disappointed

Listened to around four hours and couldn’t believe nothing had happened. I skipped through chapters to the end and realised I hadn’t missed much by doing this. The narrators were very boring I’m afraid.

plot twist

slow burner, i had to go between reading the physical copy and listening to the audio as i was beginning to get bored through the first 40%. pleased i stuck with it to, as it did pick up through the next 60%, if you looking for a read with a big plot twist this book is for you. i do wish we heard more about Badger, and his story. It felt almost rushed towards the end.

Okay

It was an ok story though I didn’t really care about any of the characters. The narrator’s inconsistent accents were quite distracting. Although it wasn’t a very engaging story I stuck with it.

I struggled with this

I love multiple narrators but they really could not help this novel. The premise was good and promised much - but it all came to little more than a damp squid. Pregnant women taking to a weekend of rest in a glorious location with supposed skilled cook/therapist/yoga and luxury accomodation. Obviously something was amiss (this was a thriller after all) but after almost 4 hours, I started to skip chapters in the hope that something would capture my wandering attention. Sadly, it just didn't happen - and having skipped to the final chapters, it should have ended much sooner as I virtually guessed the outcome. Waste of a credit and waste of my time.
