Summary

The story of Roberta, Peter, and Phyllis and their life in the country has never been out of print since it was first published in 1906. Charming, sentimental, and unforgettable, the novel's enduring appeal lives on in this BBC radio full-cast dramatisation starring Timothy Bateson as the Old Gentleman.

Wonderful!

This is one of my all time favourite stories. This is a lovely version and is a delight to listen to. I have been listening to this with my 5 year old daughter who already knew the story from the film version. We both love it!

Loved it, highly recommended!

This is a fantastic audiobook and definately one of my favourites, I love the classic stories and the bbc have done a fantastic job at taking these classical stories and turning them into great dramatised audibooks.

This is the first time I have listened to these stories done by the bbc, they have a big range of them from lots of the stories we know and have grown up with. I plan on buying a lot more of them as I am sure they will be just as good as this one.

The dramatisation of this story is fantastic, its like your watching a film because of the way its dramatised because every person is played by someone else and you even have sound effects like the train for example.

This audiobook was throughly enjoyable and the length was fine, when I saw how short it was I worried it wouldn't be very good but it was fantastic. Its done really well and certainly doesn't feel short, as I said its like watching a film.

Highly recommended for all, its something the whole family will enjoy. I'm in my twenties and I loved it, I am sure my husband will too and I am sure I'll be listening to this audiobook for many years to come, when I have children I'm sure they will listen to it too.

HAVE HEARD BETTER

Some of the children's acting was performed in such an unnatural & amateur high pitched vocals, gave all of us a slight headache.

A silly but loving story about a close warm & loving family going through difficult times but finding great comfort & healing through helping & those around them.

The old film is still the best version.
